D12, an acronym for The Dirty Dozen, is an American hip hop group from Detroit, Michigan. D12 has had chart-topping albums in the United States,... United Kingdom, and Australia. D12 was formed in 1996, and achieved mainstream success after Eminem rose to international fame. In order to make up the dozen, it was decided the six members at the time would each create an alter-ego. Proof chose Dirty Harry, Bizarre became Peter S. Bizarre, Kuniva became Hannz G. , Kon Artis chose Mr. Porter, Bugz became Robert Beck and Eminem created the character Slim Shady. In 1997 they released their debut album The Underground EP recorded between 1996 and 1997. In 1997 and through 1998, its members began establishing reputations locally. Bizarre was named Inner City Entertainment's "Flava of the Week" and went on to release an album called Attack of the Weirdos. Along with Eminem, Rah Digga and Young Zee he became an honorary member of The Outsidaz. Proof won a freestyling competition run by The Source. D12 went through many changes during the early days even becoming temporarily inactive when, after being heard by Dr. Dre, Eminem left to pursue a solo career.

Interscope Records is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group that operates as one third of UMG's Interscope-Geffen-A&M label group. Interscope was founded in 1990 by Jimmy Iovine and Interscope Communications' Ted Field with financial support from Atlantic Records . Initially... it was distributed by the Atlantic Records subsidiary East West Records America. A&R Executive John McClain and producer Beau Hill were also part of the original founding team. The original focus of the label was on hip-hop and urban music, but by the mid 2000s its range began to expand, to extent where its roster would be as wide ranging to include the industrial rock artist Nine Inch Nails , shock rocker Marilyn Manson, Limp Bizkit, Helmet, No Doubt and later the Latin artist Kings Of Flow in a unique partnership with Los Angeles based indie Latin label. Following UMG's acquisition of PolyGram in 1998, Geffen Records and A&M Records were merged into Interscope.

Aftermath Entertainment is an American record label founded by Dr. Dre. It operates as a subsidiary of, and is distributed through, Universal Music Group's Interscope Records. Current acts include Dr. Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent and Slim the Mobster, with former acts including Busta Rhymes, Game, Raekwon,... Joell Ortiz, Rakim, Eve, Marsha Ambrosius, and Stat Quo. Sixteen out of the eighteen albums the label has released have been top-five albums on the Billboard 200, having eleven of them reach number one. The label boasts multi-platinum releases from Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent and two diamond albums from Eminem. Upon his departure from Death Row Records in June 1996, Dr. Dre quickly launched Aftermath Entertainment through Interscope Records. It was founded as a "boutique label" that prides itself on "quality over quantity", focusing on small numbers of high-profile releases. Dr. Dre Presents the Aftermath was released towards the year's end, featuring artists who were amongst the label's first signees .

Web Entertainment is a Detroit-based record label run by the Bass Brothers. It is best known for producing both of Eminem 's independent albums, Infinite and The Slim Shady EP demo, before he signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment and also released The Slim Shady LP and currently Recovery... under Web. Web Entertainment has been credited on Eminem's major-label albums, as the Bass Brothers have produced and co-produced several of his tracks. They also produced an album by King Gordy, an up and coming Detroit rapper, named The Entity. In 2010 Web Entertainment released an EP by Detroit deaf rapper Sean Forbes called "I'm Deaf" in 2010 with a music video also called "I'm Deaf" which has received national praise from Mitch Albom in Parade Magazine.
