Ender's Game

Andrew "Ender" Wiggin is a fictional character from Orson Scott Card's science fiction story Ender's Game and its sequels , as well as in the first... part of the spin-off series, Ender's Shadow. The book series itself is an expansion of Card's earlier short story "Ender's Game." In the upcoming film adaptation of Ender's Game, Ender will be portrayed by Asa Butterfield. Ender's Game is the first book in the series. Andrew "Ender" Wiggin was the youngest of three children, contrary to a strict two-child policy. His existence was called for by a program aiming at producing commanders for humanity's war against the Formics, or "Buggers". He learned how to do so at Battle School, an Earth-orbiting space station that trained similar prodigies. He received the same education as other children, but the military had recognized him as their best bet to be supreme commander and often manipulated its own rules to make sure Ender had not only the necessary technical skills, but also the right character for their ends. Specifically, Ender was conditioned to be entirely self-sufficient from a very young age.

Ender's Game is an upcoming American science fiction film based on the novel of the same name by Orson Scott Card. Directed and written by Gavin Hood, the film will star Asa Butterfield as Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, an unusually gifted child who is sent to an advanced military school in space to... prepare for a future alien invasion. Other stars will include Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Aramis Knight, Hailee Steinfeld, Jimmy Pinchak, and Abigail Breslin. In November 2010, Card stated that the film's storyline would be a fusion of Ender's Game and its parallel novel, Ender's Shadow, focusing on the important elements of both. The film will be released on November 1, 2013, by Summit Entertainment. Talented pre-teen children, including Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, discovered by humanity's military International Fleet, are trained for battle against the alien insectoid Formics invading Earth. Ordained by Graff as the IF's next great hope, Ender is promoted to Command School. Once there, he's trained by Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and humankind.
