Eric H. Cline is an author, historian, archaeologist, and professor of ancient history and archaeology at The George Washington University in Washington DC, where he is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Classical and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations as well as Director of the GWU Capitol Archaeological Institute. He is also the advisor for the undergraduate archaeology majors, for which he was awarded the GWU Award for "Excellence in Undergraduate Departmental Advising" . Cline received his B.A. in Classical Archaeology at Dartmouth College in 1982 and his M.A. in... Near Eastern Languages and Literatures at Yale University in 1984. He was awarded a Fulbright scholarship in 1989 and in 1991 received his Ph.D. in Ancient History from the University of Pennsylvania. He has served as a Trustee and Board Member for both the Archaeological Institute of America and the American Schools of Oriental Research.
