The design of the Etymotic hf2 is fairly standard for a noise-isolating set. One thing to note, though, is that these go even further into the ear than many similar models. They come with three types of ear fittings: two sizes of triple-flange tips and one set of extra-long foam tips.

Pros:

Beautiful sound, good choice of earplugs, thoughtful design

Cons:

No volume control, expensive (for the hobbyist), for $200 an extension cord would be nice.

Review: A great pair of headphones, a great microphone but a little pricey for not having inline volume control, but only a little.

Cons:

fragile, less expansive sound, less bass, no pre-blending. content quality matters

Review: If sound clarity and separation are important to you, research no more. No one focuses on these two issues like Etymotic.
