Eurobell was a cable telephony company operating in south-east and south-west England from 1990 until 2000, when it was bought out by Telewest from the previous owners Deutsche Telekom for a total consideration of £250 million. Although the Eurobell services were quickly rebranded as Telewest, the cable network remained the same and the two companies accounts systems were not integrated. The main areas covered by Eurobell were Plymouth, Torbay and Exeter in Devon and Crawley and Tunbridge Wells. Prior to the takeover by Telewest, Eurobell offered Telephony and Analogue Cable Television... services, along with a free dial-up Internet service. Although trials had taken place previously, Broadband was not launched in the former Eurobell areas until 2002. Dial up internet services for the Devon and Cornwall Areas was discontinued for new accounts in early 2003. Telewest has since been merged with NTL and rebranded to Virgin Media.
