Frances Willard House was the home of Frances Willard and her family and was the longtime headquarters of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. The... house's south half was built in 1865 by Willard's father in Gothic Revival style, and enlarged in 1878. It was Willard's home from its construction until her death in 1898. Her will bequeathed the house to the Temperance Union, which in 1900 moved its headquarters from Chicago to the house. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1965.

The historic Grosse Point Light is located in Evanston, Illinois. Following several shipping disasters near Evanston, residents successfully lobbied... the federal government for a lighthouse. Construction was completed in 1873. The lighthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 8, 1976. On 20 January 1999, the lighthouse was designated a National Historic Landmark. It is maintained under the jurisdiction of the Evanston Lighthouse Park District, an independent taxing authority. The United States government agreed to construct the lighthouse at Grosse Point after several maritime disasters near the area showed need for it. Shoals were a real hazard, and ship traffic was increasing concurrent with development in the Midwest, the growth of Chicago, the aftermath of the Chicago Fire, and the increased trade and exploitation of natural resources throughout the Great Lakes. Particularly influential was the 1860 sinking of the Lady Elgin, a disaster which claimed more than 300 lives. The citizens of Evanston petitioned the government for the light station, but the Civil War delayed any funding for the project.

Northwestern Field was a football stadium in Evanston, Illinois. It opened in 1905 and was home to the Northwestern Wildcats football team prior to... the Dyche Stadium opening in 1926. It had a capacity of 10,000 people. After significant victories during the 1903 season drew large crowds, Northwestern business manager and former Evanston mayor William Dyche lobbied the school for a new stadium, arguing that 1,000 seat Sheppard Field could no longer meet popular demand. A 12-acre lot northwest of campus was chosen for the project, with construction beginning in 1904 and ending in 1905.

David Burge is an American pianist, conductor and composer. As a performer, he is noted for championing contemporary pieces. He studied at the... Eastman School of Music and the Cherubini Conservatory, Florence as a Fulbright scholar. He first gained recognition in the 1960s, and in the early 1970s George Crumb wrote his books of piano pieces Makrokosmos for him. He recorded the work, and received a Grammy nomination. Ruby Wax is an American comedian who made a career in the United Kingdom as part of the alternative comedy scene in the 1980s. Wax was born Ruby... In 1978, she joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, working alongside Juliet Stevenson in Measure for Measure, as Jaquenetta opposite Michael Hordern in Love's Labours Lost, replacing Zoë Wanamaker as Jane in The Way of the World and appearing in the Howard Brenton three-hander Sore Throats.
