London Records, referred to as London Recordings in logo, is a record label headquartered in the United Kingdom, originally marketing records in the United States, Canada and Latin America from 1947 to 1979, then becoming a semi-independent label. London arose from the split in ownership between... the British branch of Decca Records and that same company's USA branch; the American London label released British Decca records in the USA, since it could not use the "Decca" name there. They were noted for their classical albums made in then state-of-the-art stereophonic sound. Such artists as Georg Solti, Joan Sutherland and Luciano Pavarotti made many, if not all, of their recordings for the company. The London name was also used by British Decca in the UK market to release American labels which British Decca licensed, such as Imperial, Chess, Dot, Atlantic, Specialty and Sun, as well as the first two UK releases from Motown. In the sixties more licensing deals were made with Big Top, Monument, Parrot, Philles and Hi, and London Atlantic, London Monument and London Dot became subsidiaries.

Mordam Records was a Sacramento, California record distribution company for independent record labels. It was originally founded in San Francisco in 1983 as an independent punk distribution company by Ruth Schwartz . Mordam was the exclusive distributor for dozens of punk rock and independent... record labels throughout the 1980s and 90s, gaining a reputation as one of the few "distros" that paid their labels on time. Some of these labels included Lookout! Records, Frank Kozik's Man's Ruin, Kill Rock Stars, Jade Tree, and most notably Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles Records and Long Gone John's Sympathy for the Record Industry, two labels whose most popular releases were by the Dead Kennedys and The White Stripes, respectively. Mordam also became the exclusive distributor of Maximum Rock 'N Roll magazine in 1984. The distributor also released records on its own in-house record label in the mid-to-late 80s, detailed below. In every instance, Mordam positioned itself as an independent music industry entity successfully operating outside the influence of major record labels or their artists.

Slash Records is a record label in Los Angeles, originally specializing in local and punk rock bands. The label was formed in 1978 by Bob Biggs as an outgrowth of the Los Angeles-based fanzine, Slash. Biggs, a painter, initiated the label with a seven-inch single from The Germs in 1978. A full... album from that band was released the next year, and X's Los Angeles followed in 1980. Until 1981, the label was distributed through Jem; when that company went bankrupt, Slash entered into a distribution deal with Warner Bros., a move that was among the first collaborations between a self-started indie and a major label. During the time of this arrangement, the label released albums by prominent Los Angeles punk and Rock and roll bands, including Fear, The Blasters, L7 and Los Lobos. The label flourished even after the magazine stopped in 1980. A subsidiary, Ruby Records, was started in 1981; Ruby released albums by The Misfits, Dream Syndicate, and The Gun Club. By the mid-1980s, Slash had branched out into other parts of the country, signing such acts as Violent Femmes and BoDeans and releasing albums by Robyn Hitchcock and Burning Spear.
