Edward Chris Von Muir is a fictional, playable character from the Square Co., Ltd. RPG Final Fantasy IV. Edward is the prince of Damcyan, heir to... become the seventh king of the region. Edward grew up very mild-mannered in his royal family. As a royal, Edward was required to be very well educated in business areas, but shows much more interest in music. He is admired throughout the kingdom as a singer and a harpist. Edward's role in the story of Final Fantasy IV begins when his kingdom of Damcyan is attacked by the Kingdom of Baron's miliaty fleet of airships, known as the Red Wings, under the control of Golbez. In their attack, Baron steals Damcyan's Fire Crystal. Soon after, Cecil Harvey the Dark Knight arrives with friends Rydia the Summoner and Tellah the Sage. There, they discover that Anna - Tellah's daughter and Edward's ladyfriend - was mortally wounded in the attack, trying to protect Edward. Edward's parents were also killed in the blitz. Tellah becomes enraged and fights Edward. Soon after, Tellah leaves the party and swears revenge on Golbez.

Yang Fang Leiden is a fictional, playable character from the Square Co., Ltd. RPG Final Fantasy IV. He is a very composed man who serves as the High... Monk of Fabul. From a young age, Yang trained intensively until he became the most powerful martial artist among his peers. Despite his high position among the Fabul monks, Yang does not bask in his glory, and keeps his dignity. Yang enters the story of Final Fantasy IV when he meets Cecil Harvey, Rosa Farrell, Edward Chris von Muir, and Rydia on Mt. Hobs. Yang is fighting off a swarm of enemies when Cecil and the others decide to help. After defeating the enemies, Yang tells the party that he was training on the mountain with his men, though all of them were killed by monsters. Cecil warns Yang that the villain Golbez may be coming after Fabul to steal the Wind Crystal. With Fabul's finest warriors killed, Cecil and Edward offer to help Yang defend Fabul if Golbez attacks. Sure enough, Baron's forces, led by Golbez and Cecil's friend Kain Highwind, do attack. Kain defeats the party, and Golbez takes the Crystal and kidnaps Rosa. The next day, Cecil, Rydia, Edward, and Yang set sail for Baron in hopes of rescuing their friend.

Tellah the Sage is a fictional, playable character from the Square Co., Ltd. RPG Final Fantasy IV. His name is probably a mistranslation of Terah,... which is also Hebrew slang for "old man." One of the oldest playable characters in the series, Tellah is very wise, though is a bit short-tempered. At a younger age, he was a famous sage in the mage village of Mysidia, having learned nearly all the white and black magic known to man by deciphering various ancient scrolls. However, he lost control of his magic one day, injuring many mages. In penitence, he left Mysidia and retired to Kaipo, where he married and had a daughter named Anna. After losing his wife, Tellah became very over-protective of his daughter. Over the course of time, he forgot most of the spells he worked so hard to learn.Tellah is also one of the weakest playable characters in the game. When he goes up a level, his stats will decrease instead of increase . Cecil Harvey, the Dark Knight, and Rydia, the Summoner, first encounter Tellah in the Water Cavern outside of Kaipo.

Rosa Farrell is a fictional character from the Square Co., Ltd. RPG Final Fantasy IV for the Super Famicom . She grew up in Baron with Cecil Harvey... and Kain Highwind. While Cecil became a Dark Knight and Kain became a Dragoon, Rosa became an expert in white magic and archery. As a White Mage, she heals Baron's sick and wounded. Her reasons for becoming a White Mage revolve around her romantic feelings for Cecil. Just as her mother and father fought alongside each other, she wishes to fight alongside a Dark Knight. At the beginning of the tale, Cecil meets Rosa in the Castle of Baron, but only for a brief moment. This occurs before Cecil and Kain go on their journey to deliver the Bomb Ring to the summoner village of Mist. Though Cecil and Kain had not anticipated it, the entire village was destroyed by the Bomb Ring they delivered. Soon they face even more problems when one of the village's residents, Rydia, summons a Titan, which creates another earthquake. After hearing about the trouble in Mist, Rosa immediately departs Baron in search for Cecil. When crossing the Kaipo Desert, she comes down with desert fever.

Takashi Tokita is a Japanese video game developer working for Square Enix. He has worked there since 1985, and has worked as the lead designer for Final Fantasy IV as well as the director of Parasite Eve and Chrono Trigger. Tokita joined Square in 1985 at the same time as Akitoshi Kawazu and Nasir Gebelli. He was initially a part-time employee doing graphic design work and sound effects, but switched to full-time when he became the lead... designer of 1991's Final Fantasy IV. Before working on the game, Tokita wanted to make a career as a theater actor, but working on the game made him decide to become a "great creator" of video games. He was one of only 14 people working on the game. Tokita feels that Final Fantasy IV is the first game in the series to really pick up on drama, and the first Japanese RPG to feature "such deep characters and plot". He is well known for having directed Parasite Eve and written the game's story. He is also known for his role as a director for Chrono Trigger. Tokita is the head of Square Enix's Product Development Division-7.

Hironobu Sakaguchi is a Japanese game designer, game director and game producer. He is world famous as the creator of the Final Fantasy series, and has had a long career in gaming with over 100 million units of video games sold worldwide. He left Square Enix and founded a studio called Mistwalker in 2004. Sakaguchi was born in Hitachi, Ibaraki, Japan. He studied electrical engineering while attending Yokohama National University, but dropped... out in 1983 mid-semester with Hiromichi Tanaka. On leaving the university, Sakaguchi became a part-time employee of Square, a newly formed branch of Denyūsha Electric Company founded by Masafumi Miyamoto. When Square became an independent company in 1986, he became a full-time employee as the Director of Planning and Development. Sakaguchi then decided to create a role-playing video game which he named Final Fantasy as a result of his personal situation; had the game not sold well, he would have quit the games industry and gone back to university. The game was released in Japan for the Nintendo Entertainment System on December 18, 1987, and was successful across Japan.

Yoshitaka Amano , Amano Yoshitaka, born July 28, 1952 is a Japanese artist. He began his career as an animator and has become known for his illustrations for the anime Vampire Hunter D and for his character designs, image illustrations and title logo designs for the Final Fantasy video game series developed by Square Enix . His influences include Western comic books, art nouveau, and Japanese woodblock prints. He has won awards for his work,... including the 1999 Bram Stoker Award for his collaboration with Neil Gaiman, Sandman: The Dream Hunters. In early 2010, he established Studio Devaloka, a film production company. Amano was born in Shizuoka, Japan. As a young adolescent, he was fascinated with drawing. In 1967, he began working in the animation department of Tatsunoko Productions, where he was introduced to the early Japanese anime movement. His first paid project was for the Speed Racer anime franchise. He was a character designer for anime shows such as Time Bokan, Gatchaman, Tekkaman, and Honeybee Hutch. In the 1960s, Amano was exposed to Western art styles through comic books, which he claims among his artistic roots.

Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. TYO: 9684 is a Japanese video game publisher and distribution company best known for its role-playing video game franchises, which include the Final Fantasy series, the Dragon Quest series, and the action-RPG Kingdom Hearts series. Its headquarters are located in the... Shinjuku Bunka Quint Building in Yoyogi, Shibuya, Tokyo. The original Square Enix was formed as the result of a merger between Square and Enix. The merger occurred on April 1, 2003, with Square stockholders receiving 0.85 shares of stock in the new company compared to Enix stockholders receiving a one-to-one trade. Enix was the surviving company of the merger. At the time, 80% of Square Enix staff were made up of former Square Co. employees. As part of the merger, many of the top officials within Square Co. assumed the leadership roles in the new corporate hierarchy, including president Yoichi Wada, who was appointed president of the corporation. The original founder of Enix, Yasuhiro Fukushima, is currently the honorary chairman and largest shareholder of the corporation.

Square Electronic Arts L.L.C., also known as Square EA, was a joint venture between console video game developers Squaresoft and Electronic Arts. Announced on April 27, 1998, Square EA was based in Costa Mesa, California and operated under the supervision of Square president and CEO Jun Iwasaki,... and was responsible for publishing and marketing all games produced by Square in North America. Conversely, Electronic Arts Square, K.K., formed at the same time and based in Japan, was responsible for publishing and marketing games produced by Electronic Arts in Asia. Under the terms of the agreement, Electronic Arts owned 30 percent of Square EA, and Square owned 30 percent of EA Square. Square EA proved to be very successful, and during its five years of existence released a higher proportion of localized Square titles to the American market than ever before. EA Square, on the other hand, was somewhat less successful, and struggled to make an impact on the Asian videogame market, which has been traditionally difficult for American game developers to break into.

As of October 18, 2010, Nintendo has sold over 565 million hardware units and 3.4 billion software units. Nintendo was founded as a card company in late 1889, originally named Nintendo Koppai. Based in Kyoto, Japan, the business produced and marketed a playing card game called Hanafuda. The handmade cards soon became popular, and Yamauchi hired assistants to mass produce cards to satisfy demand.
