The Old Quaker Meeting House is a historic Quaker house of worship located at 137-16 Northern Boulevard, in Flushing, Queens, New York. It is part of... Flushing Monthly Meeting. The site, built in 1694, is the oldest house of worship in New York City, one of the three oldest continuously active sites of religious activity in North America, and the second oldest Quaker meeting house in the nation. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1967. Today, it still serves as a Quaker Meeting, with meetings for worship taking place every Sunday.

The Flushing Armory is a historic National Guard armory building located in the Flushing section of the New York City borough of Queens. It is a... brick and stone castle-like structure built in 1905–1906, designed to be reminiscent of medieval military structures in Europe. It was designed by State architect George L. Heins. It consists of a two-story, hip-roofed administration building with an attached 1 ⁄2-story, gable-roofed drill shed, spanning open space of 11,400 square feet . Both sections are built of load bearing brick walls sitting on a brownstone foundation. The building features a five-story octagonal tower at the northwest corner and a three-story round tower at the northeast corner. They feature tall, narrow windows and crenellated parapets. Throughout the armory's history it has been used for the National Guard, as a homeless shelter, and a gymnastics center. It is currently used by the New York City Police Department's Queens North Task Force. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Carol Ann Alt is an American model and actress. Alt was born in Flushing, Queens, New York, the daughter of Muriel, an airline employee and model,... and Anthony Alt, a fire chief. She was noticed waiting tables in her hometown of East Williston, New York. When she was 18, she decided to try modeling as a summer job to save money for college. She is of German, Belgian and Irish descent. Alt's first big break in modeling was in 1980, when she was featured on the cover of Harper's Bazaar magazine, but she gained real fame in 1982 when she was featured on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. During the 1980s she appeared on over 500 magazine covers, becoming one the most famous models of her era. Alt was referred to as "The Face" by Life Magazine. During the height of her popularity, she was the face of ad campaigns for Diet Pepsi, General Motors, Cover Girl Cosmetics, Noxzema, Hanes and numerous others. She was the first model to produce her own posters and calendars. As the eighties were winding down, Alt switched from fashion modeling to acting. Since 1986 she has been in a variety of movies, many of which were Italian productions.

Francine Joy "Fran" Drescher is an American film and television actress, comedian, producer, and activist. She is best known for her role as Fran... Fine in the hit TV series, The Nanny. Drescher made her screen debut with a small role in the 1977 blockbuster film Saturday Night Fever prior to appearing in films such as the biopic American Hot Wax , and Wes Craven's horror film Summer of Fear . In the 1980s, she gained recognition as a comedic actress in the films The Hollywood Knights , Doctor Detroit , This Is Spinal Tap , and UHF while establishing a television career with guest appearances on several series. In 1993, she achieved wider fame as Fran Fine in her own sitcom vehicle The Nanny, for which she was nominated for two Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress in a Comedy Television Series during the show's run. She received further recognition for her performances in Jack and The Beautician and the Beast and reinforced her reputation as a leading sitcom star with Living With Fran and Happily Divorced .

Favreau was born Jonathan Kolia Favreau in Flushing, Queens, New York, the son of Madeleine, an elementary school teacher who died of leukemia in 1979, and Charles Favreau, a special education teacher. Favreau's mother was Jewish and his father is a Catholic of Italian and distant French-Canadian ancestry. Favreau attended Hebrew school and had a Bar Mitzvah. Favreau graduated from the Bronx High School of Science in 1984 and attended Queens College from 1984 to 1987, before dropping out.

Anita Evelyn Pomares , better known as Anita Page, was a Salvadoran-American film actress who reached stardom in the last years of the silent film... era. She became a highly popular young star, reportedly at one point receiving the most fan mail of anyone on the MGM lot. When Page died in 2008 at age 98, she was the last surviving "famous" film star of the silent era except for child actresses such as Baby Peggy and Baby Marie. A few silent leading ladies who did not achieve wide fame survive her. She was referred to as "a blond, blue-eyed Latin" and "the girl with the most beautiful face in Hollywood" in the 1920s. Page was born in Flushing, Queens to Helen and John Pomares. She had one brother, Marino, who later worked for her as a gym instructor while her mother worked as her secretary and her father as her chauffeur. Of Salvadoran and Spanish ancestry, Page's grandfather was a consul from El Salvador. Page entered films with the help of friend, actress Betty Bronson. Page's picture was spotted by a man who handled Bronson's fan mail who was also interested in representing actors.

Ted Bessell was an American television actor and director. Born in Flushing, New York, Bessell grew up in Manhasset on Long Island, New York. He was... originally gearing up for a career as a classical musician. As a 12-year-old child prodigy, he performed a piano recital at Carnegie Hall. However, after graduating from college in 1958, Bessell focused on acting. He studied with Sandford Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse, studied dance and dramatic movement with Martha Graham and Louis Horst, was a member of a professional acting class under Meisner, and worked with Wynn Handman in another professional acting group. He acted and directed in stock where he appeared in a wide spectrum of theatre works ranging from Shakespeare to Jule Styne. He then was cast in the off-Broadway production of The Power of Darkness, which led to further off-Broadway work with the Blackfriars Guild. He also co-produced with his brother, writer-director Frank Bessell, Joe Orton's Crimes of Passion, directed by Michael Kahn. Bessell first went to Los Angeles in the West Coast production of Thomas Wolfe's Look Homeward, Angel, for which he received great critical notices.

Louis Jay "Lou" Pearlman is a former impresario of the successful 1990s boy bands such as The Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC. In 2006, it was discovered... that Pearlman had perpetrated one of the largest and longest-running Ponzi schemes in American history, leaving more than $300 million in debts. After getting caught on the run, and pleading guilty to conspiracy, money laundering and making false statements during a bankruptcy proceeding, in 2008 Pearlman was convicted and sentenced to up to 25 years in prison. Lou Pearlman was born and raised in Flushing, Queens, the only child of Jewish parents Hy Pearlman, who ran a dry cleaning business, and Reenie Pearlman, a school lunchroom aide. Pearlman is the first cousin of Art Garfunkel. His home at Mitchell Gardens Apartments was located across from Flushing Airport, where he and childhood friend Alan Gross would watch blimps take off and land. According to Pearlman's autobiography, Bands, Brands, & Billions, it was during this period he used his position on his school newspaper to earn credentials and get his first ride in a blimp.
