Minato is one of the 23 special wards of Tokyo, Japan. As of 1 March 2008, it had an official population of 217,335 and a population density of 10,865 persons per km². The total area is 20.34 km². Minato hosts 49 embassies. It is also home to various companies, including Honda,... Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, NEC, Sony, Fujitsu and Toshiba. Minato is located southwest of the Imperial Palace and has boundaries with the special wards of Chiyoda, Chūō, Kōtō , Shinagawa, Shibuya, and Shinjuku. The ward was founded on March 15, 1947 with the merger of Akasaka, Azabu, and Shiba Wards. The name minato means "port". Minato is governed by mayor Masaaki Takei, an Independent supported by all major parties except the Japanese Communist Party. The city legislative assembly has 51 members and is dominated by the Liberal Democratic Party. The city's public elementary and junior high schools are operated by the Minato City Board of Education. Mita Junior High School opened in 2001 after the merger of Minato Junior High School and Shibahama Junior High School.

Fujifilm Holdings Corporation, commonly known as Fujifilm, is a multinational photography and imaging company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Fujifilm's principal activities are the development, production, sale and servicing of color photographic film, digital cameras, photofinishing equipment, color paper, photofinishing chemicals, medical imaging equipment, graphic arts equipment and materials, flat panel displays, optical devices,... photocopiers and printers. Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd. was established in 1934 with the aim of being the first Japanese producer of photographic films. Having carried out sustained efforts in this area over the following 10 years, the company achieved domestic production of photographic films, motion-picture films and X-ray films. In the 1940s, Fuji Photo entered the optical glasses, lenses and equipment markets. After the Second World War, the Company promoted diversification, penetrating the medical , printing, electronic imaging and magnetic materials fields. In 1962, Fuji Photo and U.K.-based Rank Xerox Limited launched Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. through a joint venture.
