Yogaraj Bhat is a prominent Kannada film director, producer, screenwriter and a lyricist. He is most predominantly known for the 2006 film Mungaru Male, which he co-wrote with Preetam Gubbi. He was also the director of the film and was one of the lyricists in the film. The film recorded the... highest box-office collections in the history of Kannada cinema and currently holds the record for the longest running film at a multiplex. He has also rendered lyrics to several other songs from films like Gaalipata, Circus and Jackie. Yogaraj Bhat was born in Mandarthi in Udupi district to a Tulu-Brahmin family. He did his schooling in Dharwad district. Then he went to Mysore for college studies, where he was a student of Kannada literature. He is married to Renuka and the couple have a daughter. Even though born in Mandarthi , he spent all his childhood days in a village called Tilavalli near Haveri District and Hangal Taluk. One of his elder brothers still stays in Tilavalli and was responsible in bringing up Yograj. During his college days in Mysore he watched a lot of foreign classics like Coppolla’s The Godfather, Kurosawa’s Ran.
