The Johnston-Jacobs House is a Greek Revival style brick house located near downtown Georgetown, Kentucky. The original structure was built in... approximately 1795 by Adam Johnston for use as a tavern-inn. The property was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on October 2, 1973. Adam Johnston and his son Thomas were among the first permanent settlers in Georgetown, Kentucky. Around 1795, Adam Johnston established an ordinary; a place where travelers could have lodging, a meal, whiskey, and stable their horse. Adam Johnston died in 1810 and Thomas owned the building until 1830 when his daughter Mary Ann and her husband James M. Shelton acquired the property. William Jacobs, a blacksmith, bought the building and several pieces of property around it. In 1860, Nathan Payne purchased the house and renovated the structure with stylish Greek Revival additions. After Payne's death, the dwelling was sold J. C. Cravens, and soon resold to James Rawlins, and then Virginia W. Hamilton, wife of Dr. John A. Hamilton.

The Payne-Desha House is an historic house located on land west of Royal Spring Branch near downtown Georgetown, Kentucky, USA that was the built in... 1814 by Robert Payne, a Kentucky war hero from the Battle of the Thames. Also, the house was the last residence of Joseph Desha, the ninth governor of Kentucky. The property was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on December 2, 1974. In 1784, Elijah Craig established the town of Lebanon, Virginia near McClelland's Station, an abandoned army fort. The name was changed to George Town in 1790 as a tribute to the first President of the United States, George Washington. The town was centered around Royal Spring, a large spring that was reliable source of water for the residents and industry in the area. The Payne-Desha House was built on the west side of Royal Spring Branch on land originally owned by Elijah Craig. After Craig's death in 1808, General Richard Gano and Josiah Pitts purchased the property near Royal Spring Branch from Craig's estate. In 1814 General John Payne bought both pieces of land making a 20-acre estate.

Scott County Courthouse is a building in Georgetown, Kentucky, the county seat of Scott County, Kentucky, where county government offices are... located. The property was added to the United States National Register of Historic Places on September 28, 1972. Scott County became the state of Kentucky's eleventh county on June 1, 1792 by the newly formed Kentucky Legislature from a section of Woodford County. The county was named after Charles Scott, an American Revolutionary War general who later was Kentucky's fourth governor. The first Scott County Courthouse was built in 1792 on a 1-acre lot sold to the county by Elijah Craig. The original building was replaced by a larger structure. A third courthouse was built in 1847 after a fire destroyed the second courthouse. The August 9, 1837, fire destroyed most of the records. A second fire in 1876 again destroyed Scott County courthouse and the fourth courthouse was built. This fourth courthouse remains today but is no longer used for trials but instead other official government affairs. The building was added to the United States National Register of Historic Places on September 28, 1972.
