Glasgow

Dave Harris is an American disc jockey, songwriter, and musician. He was born in Glasgow, Kentucky and has hosted the syndicated radio show, Retro... Rewind since 1999. Harris created Retro Rewind in October 1997. He also wrote for other syndicated radio shows in the late 1980s. In 1998 Harris took a leave of absence from Retro Rewind to manage the band The Outfield. He's also a songwriter, having penned a Top 20 hit on the Billboard magazine adult contemporary charts in April 2005 called, "Sunset Blvd". It was a song he co-wrote with his friend and songwriting partner, Scott Grimes, who is an American actor ER as Dr. Archie Morris, Party of Five as Will McCorkle, Band of Brothers as Technical Sergeant Donald Malarkey, and the popular animated sitcom American Dad! voicing the character Steve Smith. In 2005 Grimes released an album entitled, Livin On The Run with Harris co-writing several songs on the disc. Grimes & Harris have had a handful of songs end up in TV and film as well. In July 2010 Scott Grimes released "Drive", his first new music in 5 years.

Richard "Billy" Vaughn was an American singer, multi-instrumentalist, orchestra leader, and A&R man for Dot Records. He was born in Glasgow,... Kentucky, where his father was a barber who loved music and inspired Billy to teach himself to play the mandolin at age of three, while suffering from measles. He went on to learn a number of other instruments. In 1941 Vaughn joined the United States National Guard for what had been planned as a one-year assignment, but when World War II broke out, he was sent abroad till the war ended in 1945. He decided to make music a career when he was discharged from the army at the end of the war, and attended Western Kentucky State College, now known as Western Kentucky University, majoring in music composition. He had apparently learned barbering from his father, because he did some while studying at Western Kentucky to support himself financially, when he was not able to get jobs playing the piano at local night clubs and lounges.

Courtney Johnson was an innovative banjo player, best known for his work as an original member of the band New Grass Revival. Influenced by Ralph... Stanley and his Clinch Mountain Boys, Johnson is often considered to be an inventor of the newgrass style of banjo playing, polished and improved later on by such personalities as Béla Fleck, Alison Brown, Scott Vestal of Sam Bush Band and Jens Krüger of Krüger Brothers. Johnson began to play guitar at the age of seven, but didn't pick up the banjo until he was about 25 years old. He worked as a mechanic in a service station at his hometown of Hiseville, Kentucky before he earned enough money as a musician. Johnson played in several local bands, including the Rocky Road Boys with Bill Hatfield on fiddle and Bill Logsdon on guitar. In 1969, Sam Bush asked Courtney to join his band, Poor Richard's Almanac. They played together in local clubs until 1970, when Bush left to join the Bluegrass Alliance band. In 1971, Johnson also joined the band, consisting of Bush, fiddler Lonnie Pierce, guitarist Tony Rice and bassist Ebo Walker. The Bluegrass Alliance is often considered as one of the bands that started to play progressive bluegrass.
