Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, model and actress. She rose to fame in the early 2000s. Ashanti is most... famous for her eponymous debut album, which featured the hit song "Foolish", and sold over 503,000 copies in its first week of release throughout the U.S. in April 2002. The album set a Soundscan record as the biggest opening week sales for a new female artist, outselling debuts by Alicia Keys and Lauryn Hill. In the same week, she became the first female performer to simultaneously hold the top two places on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with "Foolish", and "What's Luv?" . Ashanti broke records again by having three top ten songs, "Foolish," "What's Luv?" and "Always on Time", on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in the same week, being the first woman to accomplish this feat and being second only to the Beatles. In 2003, the self-titled debut album won Ashanti her first Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B album. As of April 1, 2012 she has sold more then 27 million records and singles worldwide. Ashanti ended the decade as the third top new R&B artist behind Alicia Keys and Beyoncé.

Lee M. Ranaldo is an American singer, guitarist, writer, record producer, and visual artist, best known as a co-founder of the alternative rock band... Sonic Youth. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked Ranaldo and his Sonic Youth bandmate Thurston Moore the 33rd and 34th Greatest Guitarists of All Time, respectively. Ranaldo was born in Glen Cove, Long Island, and graduated from Binghamton University. He has three sons, Cody, Sage and Frey, and is married to the experimental artist Leah Singer. Ranaldo started his career in New York in several bands and joining the electric guitar orchestra of Glenn Branca. Among Ranaldo's solo records are Dirty Windows, a collection of spoken texts with music, Amarillo Ramp , pieces for the guitar, and Scriptures of the Golden Eternity. His books include several with art or photography by Leah Singer, including Drift, Bookstore, Road Movies, and Moroccan Journal: Jajouka excerpt . Ranaldo has also published Jrnls80s , as well as a book of poems, Lengths & Breaths, with photography by Cynthia Connolly.

John Edward McGee, Jr. is an American television personality and professional psychic medium. He is best known for his TV shows Crossing Over with... John Edward and John Edward Cross Country. Born in Glen Cove, New York, Edward says he was convinced at a young age that he could become a psychic. After writing his first book on the subject in 1998, Edward became a well-known and controversial figure in the United States through his shows broadcast on SCI FI Channel beginning in July 2000 and We TV since May 2006. The only son of an Irish-American policeman and an Italian-American working mother, Edward was raised Roman Catholic. Although Edward later stopped practicing that faith, he has said he never stopped feeling connected to God and is still closely connected to his Catholic roots. Edward once said, "This is something that is driven by a belief in God. It's the energy from that force that I think allows us to create this energy." According to Edward, when he was 15 and "a huge doubter" , he was "read" by a New Jersey woman who convinced him that he could become a medium. "She told me things that there is no way she could have known.

David Gordon Strickland, Jr. was an American actor best known for playing the boyish rock music reporter Todd Stites in the NBC sitcom Suddenly... Susan before committing suicide on March 22, 1999. Strickland was born in Glen Cove, Long Island, New York, and moved to Princeton, New Jersey with his family, before relocating to California. His earlier television roles before Suddenly Susan included Dave's World, Roseanne, Sister, Sister, and Mad About You. Strickland suffered from bipolar disorder and had a history of drug and alcohol abuse. He was arrested in October 1998 for the possession of cocaine, pleaded no contest in December and was sentenced to 36 months probation and ordered into rehabilitation. He was due in court on the day of his death for a progress report. News reports of events leading up to his death suggest that he had chosen to stop taking the lithium he was prescribed to control his bipolar disorder. Strickland died during the morning hours of March 22, 1999.

Wayne Douglas Barlowe is an American science fiction and fantasy painter. He has painted over 300 book and magazine covers and illustrations for... many major book publishers, as well as Life magazine, Time, and Newsweek. His parents, Sy and Dorothea Barlowe, were both natural history artists. He is well known for his realistic paintings of surreal alien life. His Barlowe's Guides to extraterrestrials and to fantasy are his interpretations of specific creatures and beings from well-known science fiction and fantasy literature. His Inferno is an interpretation of the demonology contained in the Grimoire of Honorius. He is married to fantasy and science fiction editor Shawna McCarthy and has two daughters from the marriage, Cayley and Hillary.

Douglas John "Doug" McIntyre is the host of "McIntyre In The Morning" on KABC 790 Los Angeles, and is a page one columnist for the Los Angeles... Daily News Known for his active involvement in local politics and his passion for jazz and "The Great American Songbook", McIntyre's background includes work as television writer-producer with credits including MarriedWith Children, WKRP in Cincinnati, Full House, Mike Hammer and the critically acclaimed PBS series, Liberty's Kids, which earned McIntyre a Humanitas Prize nomination. With his wife, actress Penny Peyser, McIntyre wrote, produced and directed the feature length documentary film, Trying to Get Good: The Jazz Odyssey of Jack Sheldon, released in 2008. After four years hosting KABC's overnight show "Red Eye Radio", McIntyre inherited the "morning drive" position when veteran host Ken Minyard retired in October 2004. On September 24, 2009, McIntyre announced that he was leaving effective the end of the day's broadcast.

Ellie Cornell is an American actress and movie producer, known primarily for her roles in horror films. After her marriage to producer Mark... Gottwald, she is sometimes credited as Ellie Gottwald. Cornell graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida in 1986. Cornell made small guest appearances on two television series: Gabriel's Fire and Thirtysomething, as well as several made-for-TV movies. She appeared in the 1988 comedy film Married to the Mob, but her most famous and first starring role came shortly afterwards in the horror film hits Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers as Rachel Carruthers. After her initial success in the late 1980s, Cornell disappeared from films. She eventually rejoined the industry as an executive producer of 1998's Free Enterprise and 2000's The Specials. Her disappearance was so complete that she was featured in a VH1 "Where Are They Now?" special. In 2003, she returned to her horror roots by appearing in House of the Dead and was slated to appear in four more horror films through 2006.
