Ullevi is a stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden. The stadium was built for the 1958 FIFA World Cup, but since then Ullevi has also hosted the 1995 World... Championships in Athletics and the 2006 European Championships in Athletics, the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup finals in 1983 and 1990, the UEFA Euro 1992 final, the UEFA Cup final in 2004, and annually hosted the opening ceremony of the Gothia Cup—the world's largest football tournament. The stadium is the biggest in Scandinavia, with a seating capacity of 43,000 and a total capacity of 75,000 for concerts. The record attendance, for football, is 52,194 and was set on 3 June 1959, when Örgryte IS played against IFK Göteborg. A Bruce Springsteen concert on 8 June 1985, became notable because Springsteen – with the help of a very enthusiastic audience – almost rocked the stadium to pieces, literally. As the city rests on a layer of clay, the rhythmic movement of tens of thousands of people was close to causing a structural collapse. Even though Bruce Springsteen has made several more visits since, it is unlikely he will manage to repeat his feat, as the concrete pillars supporting the stadium have since been extended down to solid bedrock.

Valhalla IP is a stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden which is home to several teams, for both Damallsvenskan and Superettan, Örgryte IS, Qviding FIF... and the ladies team Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC. The stadium is situated close the river Mölndalsån and Burgårdsparken of the town and is named after the Valhalla is Odin's hall in Norse mythology. The capacity of the stadium is 4000, where 1200 are seated. Valhalla IP had an artificial pitch added in October 2006. On October 19, 2008, during a football match between Örgryte IS and FC Väsby United, after one minute of play a railing in the stands collapsed when fans celebrated a goal scored by Marcus Allbäck. Up to forty spectators fell down on the field, a few suffered minor injuries and one spectator was taken to hospital. It also hosted some Sweden national football team games.

Gothenburg Concert Hall is located in Gothenburg, Sweden and was built in 1935. The architect for the facility was Nils Einar Ericsson, a major... advocate of Functionalism. However, the Concert Hall has a Neo-Classical exterior look, due to the surrounding area at Götaplatsen where the building is placed - the Art Museum and the City Theatre are solid classically designed buildings as well, and were built before the Concert Hall. In contrast to the exterior, the Concert Hall's interior is modernistic. The main auditorium's plain shaped walls are clad in yellowish-red maple veneer and there are 1,300 seats. There is also a smaller concert hall, Stenhammarsalen, for chamber concerts. The acoustic qualities of Gothenburg Concert Hall have given it a reputation well outside the Swedish borders; Deutsche Grammophon has used the Concert Hall as a studio for a number of records, for example. A number of progressive rock bands have also performed there. The Concert Hall is the home stage of the Gothenburg Symphony.

Gamla Ullevi is a football stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden that opened on 5 April 2009. The stadium replaced the city's previous main football stadium,... also called Gamla Ullevi, and is the home ground of three football clubs: GAIS, IFK Göteborg and Örgryte IS. It is also the national stadium for the Sweden women's national football team. The new stadium was built on the ground of the now demolished old stadium. The construction of the stadium was surrounded by controversy, regarding the cost of the project, the supposedly low standard of the finished stadium, as well as the name of the stadium. The three clubs of the Gothenburg Alliance —GAIS, IFK Göteborg and Örgryte IS—played the majority of their matches on the old Gamla Ullevi from its inauguration in 1916 until the newer Ullevi stadium was completed in 1958 for the 1958 World Cup in Sweden. From that year most matches where played on the large stadium with a capacity of over 40,000, but as the attendance numbers decreased in the 1980s and early 1990s, and in connection with the removal of the terraces, calls for a move back to the old stadium was heard.

Stellan John Skarsgård ; born 13 June 1951 is a Swedish actor, though he is best known internationally for his roles in English-language films.... Skarsgård was born in Gothenburg, Sweden; the son of Gudrun and Jan Skarsgård. He moved often in his childhood and lived, amongst other places, in Helsingborg, Totebo, Kalmar, Marielund and Uppsala. Skarsgård started his acting career early. At the age of 21 he already had a great deal of experience in film, TV and stage. Most of his early roles were in Swedish TV and movies. Of Skarsgård’s Swedish film work, he is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg, who worked to save Holocaust victims. The movie was filmed in Budapest, in the only Jewish ghetto to survive World War II. Skarsgård is particularly associated with director Lars von Trier. He appeared in four of the Danish auteur's features-- The Kingdom, Breaking the Waves, Dogville and Melancholia. His most personal working relationship, however, is with Norwegian director Hans Petter Moland.

Eleni "Elena" Paparizou , usually referred to abroad as Helena Paparizou, is a Greek–Swedish singer and occasional songwriter and television... personality. Born and raised in Sweden to Greek immigrant parents, she enrolled in various arts schools before launching a career there in 1999 as a member of the laïko and Eurodance duo Antique, whose rise to fame in Greece was preceded by its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001. Antique disbanded in 2003 and Paparizou signed a solo recording contract with Sony Music, releasing the chart-topping debut single "Anapandites Kliseis" and album Protereotita , with emphasis on laïko, pop, and dance sounds, but had modest sales, initially. She then represented Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, giving the country its only win in contest history with the song "My Number One", an achievement which significantly transformed her career.

Bengt Mikael Stanne is the vocalist for the Swedish melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity and the ex-vocalist for Swedish power metal band... HammerFall. Stanne along with Niklas Sundin formed Dark Tranquillity because they were bored, along with interest in metal from their influences. He played guitar on Dark Tranquillity's first album, Skydancer, as well as on their early demos, including Enfeebled Earth released under the name Septic Broiler. In 1994, Anders Fridén, Dark Tranquillity's original vocalist left the band to join In Flames. Stanne then became the new vocalist and discontinued playing guitar. In addition to his usual growling vocals, Dark Tranquillity's 1999 album, Projector showcased his operatic "clean" singing abilities. After Projector, however, the clean style was mostly abandoned until the release of Fiction in 2007. Stanne was the original vocalist for HammerFall from 1993 until 1996, after which he was replaced because he couldn't perform with HammerFall due to his commitment to Dark Tranquillity. Stanne was a session vocalist for the Swedish, melodic death metal band In Flames, during their early career.

Ace of Base released its debut album in 1992 and went on to attain major chart success throughout the 1990s. Ekberg has produced several artists, TV productions, films and events and has sold over 40 million records world wide. With Ace of Base's The Sign , he was #1 on the Billboards single and album list for six weeks and sold - as the only non-American band ever - diamond with the album. 1993 he was nominated in the USA for three Grammy Awards, won two American Music Awards, two Billboard Awards and eight World Music Awards. Ace of Base have reached the #1 world wide chart position and released four albums and one 'best of' album with four new songs. Ulf restarted Ace of Base in 2006, touring the world with them from 2007 to 2009. In 2009 he started a new music production/publishing and management company together with Jonas Berggren based in LA, London and Stockholm.

Jenny Cecilia Berggren is a Swedish singer and former lead singer in the Swedish pop band Ace of Base. Since 1995, she has also been writing songs... and performing solo. In 2010 she released her debut album My Story. Jenny was born in Gothenburg and she is the third of three children born to Göran Berggren, an X-ray technician, and Birgitta Berggren. She was raised in a Christian family in the Gothenburg suburbs. All three Berggren children took music lessons, and Jenny, along with her older sister Malin, practiced violin. Educated to become a teacher, Berggren studied classical music and sang for her church choir with her sister. During the late 1980s, the Berggren siblings, along with Johnny Lindén and Nicklas Tränk, formed the techno band Tech Noir. The group eventually became Ace of Base. Berggren also attended university, with the intention of becoming a teacher. This plan fell apart when Ace of Base was signed to Danish label Mega Records, with the band's debut album eventually selling more than 30 million copies worldwide.

Håkan Hellström is a Swedish musician. He got his Swedish breakthrough in the year 2000 with the song "Känn ingen sorg för mig... Göteborg" . In 2005, Hellström released his fourth album, Nåt gammalt, nåt nytt, nåt lånat, nåt blått , which is a collection of old material that never made it onto any of his albums, a few new songs and covers. In 2006, following the birth of his son, he announced that he would take a break from touring and recording. Despite this, he still performed occasional gigs. Since then he has released his fifth album För sent för Edelweiss . His sixth and most recent album is the critically acclaimed 2 steg från Paradise, released on October 13, 2010. Hellström played drums in the Swedish indie pop band Broder Daniel between 1988 and 1994, then briefly for Swedish alternative rock band Honey Is Cool. In 1997 he rejoined Broder Daniel to play the bass, until 2003 when he left the band again to focus completely on his solo career.

Janet Ava Leon is a professional Swedish singer and dancer of Persian and Spanish descent. She joined the pop group Play in late 2003. After Play's... lead singer Faye Hamlin left the group to pursue further schooling in October 2003, Janet received a phone call from PLAY's manager, Laila Bagge, to whom she had sent an audition video in the past. Janet had also been an acquaintance of original member Anaïs Lameche prior to joining Play. After meeting Janet, the three remaining members of Play, Anaïs Lameche, Rosie Munter, and Anna Sundstrand welcomed her into the group. On 15 December 2003 an official press release announced that Janet had officially joined the group and had begun recording a new album with them. Previously, Janet had been part of a band with some friends called "Walking Spanish," that had performed at music festivals around Sweden. Janet joined Play as the new lead singer. Janet's first album as a part of Play, Don't Stop the Music, was released on 9 March 2004.

Anders Fridén is the vocalist/lyricist of the Swedish band In Flames. Fridén was originally the vocalist for Dark Tranquillity. He... performed on their debut album, Skydancer, but left the band soon after. Two years later he joined In Flames. Coincidentally Mikael Stanne had left In Flames and switched from rhythm guitar to lead vocals in Dark Tranquillity, so the two effectively traded places. Anders was also the lead vocalist for another band known as Ceremonial Oath with In Flames founder Jesper Strömblad. Fridén started with In Flames on the 1995 album The Jester Race. On the album Whoracle, Niklas Sundin wrote the lyrics following the original synopsis by Fridén. On the 1999 album Colony, Fridén composed the lyrics himself, though Sundin still assisted by translating his lyrics from Swedish to English. His lyrics have evolved from abstract themes such as astrology and fantasy, to more personal endeavours such as depression and inner struggles. He is also the vocalist for the band Passenger as a side project, but has stated recently that he now has very little time for the project, and it is on hold.

Stefan Olsdal is the bassist/guitarist of the alternative rock band Placebo and is part of the electronic dance/DJ and remix act Hotel Persona. He... moved to Luxembourg when he was young and went to the American International School of Luxembourg along with fellow band member Brian Molko . Olsdal began playing music in his school's orchestra in 1987. He completed his high school education in Sweden and moved to London with his parents, where he attended the Musicians Institute. He is openly gay and in a relationship with a Spanish man he said he met one week before the band was formed. He came out publicly in an interview in Melody Maker in 1996. Olsdal met Molko by chance outside South Kensington tube station. The two of them formed Ashtray Heart, a lo-fi duo, playing mostly on toy instruments. They wrote four songs, but decided to try out as a serious band, so they invited Steve Hewitt who could not be in the band because he was already signed to another record company.
