Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance

Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance

The Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance has been awarded since 1989. In 1992 and 1994 the award was presented as the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance with Vocal. The designation of what is "metal" and what is "hard rock" can be somewhat arbitrary; for instance, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, and Soundgarden have won awards in both categories.
