Game Overview

Vice City, 1984. Opportunity abounds in a city emerging from the swamps, its growth fueled by the violent power struggle in a lucrative drugs trade. Construction is everywhere as a shining metropolis rises from foundations of crime and betrayal. As a soldier, Vic Vance has always protected his dysfunctional family, his country, himself. One bad decision later and that job is about to get much harder. Kicked out onto the streets of a city torn between glamour and gluttony, Vic is faced with a stark choice - build an empire or be crushed.

The Good

Vice City is just as gaudy and cheesy as you remember it, fantastic soundtrack and radio dialogue, longer missions, It's only $20.

The Bad

Some control issues with the combat, no real forward progress for the series to be found here--old issues still remain, Upscaling PSP graphics to a console never results in a particularly pretty game, Multiplayer modes are gone.

The Bottom Line

As a soldier, Vic Vance has always protected his dysfunctional family, his country, and himself. One bad decision later and that job is about to get much harder. Kicked out onto the streets of a city torn between glamor and gluttony, Vic is faced with a stark choice: build an empire or be crushed.

This PS2 port of the PSP hit brings gamers back to the city of the second entry in the GTA III trilogy, with new characters meet and new locations to explore in this second trip to Vice City on PS2.

Like Liberty City Stories before it, Vice City Stories isn't nearly as appealing as a PS2 game, but it's still got worthwhile qualities.

While dated graphics and an overall air of familiarity may turn off some, the sheer amount of fun activities coupled with the budget price make for a heartily recommended adventure.

While the game stood tall on the PSP, its Sony Playstation 2 port seems weak in comparison when you look at the other options on the system. It's still fun, to be sure, but it just feels like a sloppy port.
