NewBridge Bank Park is a minor league baseball park opened in Spring 2005 by the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the South Atlantic League. The park is on... the block bounded by Bellemeade, Edgeworth, Smith, and Eugene Streets in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina, United States. The team moved here during Winter 2004-2005, leaving their previous home of many decades, World War Memorial Stadium. Lindsay Street, which once cut through the property of the new park, now T's into Eugene, and also provides a direct path to the old stadium. On May 5, 2009, it was announced that the 2010 ACC Baseball Tournament would be held at NewBridge Bank Park, a change from the previous location of Fenway Park in Boston, due to economic reasons.

Armfield Athletic Center is a 2,200-capacity multi-use stadium in Greensboro, North Carolina on the campus of Guilford College where it serves as... home to the school's football, soccer, and lacrosse teams. In the summer of 2009, the grass field was replaced with turf and the soccer team moved their playing location from Haworth Field to there. The stadium is dedicated to the Armfield family, longtime friends of the school.

Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, at 2332 New Garden Road in Greensboro, North Carolina, commemorates the Battle of Guilford Court House,... fought on March 15, 1781. This battle opened the campaign that led to American victory in the Revolutionary War. The losses by the British in this battle contributed to their surrender at Yorktown seven months later. The battlefield is preserved as a National Military Park and operated by the National Park Service . Based on research of historical evidence, the interpretation of the battle has changed since the late 20th century, which will affect the placement of monuments and markers. In 1886, local resident David Schenck initiated plans to gain control of land to commemorate the Guilford Courthouse battleground as a park. The following year, he chartered the non-profit Guilford Battle Ground Company to advance such efforts. From an early date, he planned on the group's donating the property it purchased to the federal government. When the US Congress finally established Guilford Courthouse as a national military park in 1917, the GBGC turned over its 125 acres at no charge.

The Greensboro Coliseum Complex is an entertainment complex located in College Hill neighborhood of Greensboro, North Carolina. Opening in 1959, the... arena was one of the largest venues in the South, with a seating capacity of over 23,000. The complex holds nine venues that includes an amphitheater, arena, aquatic center, banquet hall, convention center, museum, performing arts center, theatre and an indoor pavilion. It is presently the home of the UNC Greensboro Spartans men's basketball team, as well as the ACC Men and Women's Basketball Tournament. It has hosted the Men's ACC Tournament 23 times since 1967 and the Women's ACC Tournament 12 times since 2000. The coliseum is contracted to host both tournaments until 2015. Other notable sporting events include the NCAA Men's Final Four in 1974 and the East Regionals in 1976, 1979 and 1998. It is also the former home of several professional hockey teams including the Greensboro Generals, Greensboro Monarchs and the Carolina Hurricanes. The complex has hosted the "Central Carolina Fair" since 1999. It is the largest arena in the The South. For the United States, it is tied for second with the United Center.

Rigdon Osmond "Rick" Dees III is an American comedic performer, entertainer, and radio personality, best known for his internationally syndicated... radio show The Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 Countdown and for the novelty song "Disco Duck." He is a People's Choice Award recipient, a Grammy-nominated performing artist, and Broadcast Hall of Fame inductee. He wrote two songs that appear in the film Saturday Night Fever, plus performed the title song for the film Meatballs. Dees is also co-founder of the E.W. Scripps television network, FINE LIVING, and is the current host of the Rick Dees in the Morning show at Hot 92.3 in Los Angeles. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Dees was raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. He graduated from Greensboro's Grimsley High School, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor’s Degree in Radio, TV and Motion Pictures. Dees began his radio career at WGBG, a Greensboro radio station, while still in high school. He worked in various radio stations throughout the southeastern United States, including WSGN in Birmingham, Alabama and WKIX in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Nicknamed the "Octopus", for his extremely large hands spread over the fretboard as if they were... tentacles, he is considered one of the all-time great jazz guitarists. Where other similar players of his day combined rhythmic chords with linear melodies, Farlow preferred placing single notes together in clusters, varying between harmonically richened tones based on a startling new technique. Farlow was born in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1921. Nearly as famous for his reluctance to perform publicly as for his outstanding abilities, he did not take up the instrument until he was 21,. but within a year was playing professionally and in 1948 was with Marjorie Hyams' band.

Wiglesworth, a whitewater rafting guide,... dominated the physical challenges in Survivor: Borneo, winning four straight immunity challenges to propel herself to the Final Two. An original member of the dominant Tagi voting alliance which included Richard Hatch, Susan Hawk, and Rudy Boesch, Wiglesworth later abandoned the alliance. Wiglesworth went up against Gervase Peterson in a canoeing challenge requiring a designated paddler to retrieve all members of their own tribe. Initially she and Hatch believed her capacities on water would be beneficial, especially since they were not sure how well Peterson would do under these conditions. The Pagong tribe got out to an early lead and never looked back, which upset Wiglesworth intensely for the rest of the round. Wiglesworth may best be remembered for being on the receiving end of a harsh speech given by Susan Hawk at the season's final tribal council.

Cheek's... breakthrough was in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, where he won the bronze medal in the 1,000 meters and just missed the podium in the 1,500 meters by 0.08 seconds. In 2003 he won a bronze medal at the World Single Distance Championships in Berlin in the 1,000- and 1,500-meter events. Both distances at that tournament were won by Dutch speed skater Erben Wennemars. In 2005, Cheek made the podium for the first time in the World Sprint Championships, again behind Wennemars. On January 22, 2006, in Heerenveen, Cheek became world sprint champion. On aggregate he beat Dmitry Dorofeyev of Russia and Jan Bos of the Netherlands. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, Cheek won the men's 500-meter event in dominating style, recording a two-run total time of 1:09.76. That time was 0.65 seconds faster than runner-up Dorofeyev, and Cheek was the only competitor to break the 35-second mark in the competition, doing so in both of his runs .

Christopher Adam "Chris" Daughtry is an American musician best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the rock band Daughtry and as the... fourth-place contestant on the fifth season of American Idol, from which he was eliminated on May 10, 2006. After his elimination from Idol, he was given a record deal by RCA Records and formed a band called Daughtry. Their self-titled debut album became the fastest selling debut rock album in history, selling more than one million copies after just five weeks of release. The album was recorded before the band was officially formed, making Chris Daughtry the only official member present on the album. This led some to believe mistakenly that the band Daughtry is Chris Daughtry's solo project. In its ninth week of release, Daughtry reached number one on the Billboard charts. Chris Daughtry is now the third most successful American Idol contestant in terms of record sales, behind only Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, who both won their respective seasons. At the 50th Grammy Awards, the band was nominated for Best Rock Song for the single "It's Not Over".

Charlyn Marie Marshall , also known as Chan Marshall or by her stage name Cat Power, is an American singer/songwriter and occasional actress and... model. Cat Power was originally the name of Marshall's first band, but has come to refer to her musical projects with various backing bands. Over a twenty year career she has produced eight studio albums, one live album and two EPs. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Marshall loved soul, rock 'n' roll and country music from childhood and began to play guitar in experimental bands with friends in her early adult years. After a move to New York at age 20, Marshall recorded two lo-fi, improvised solo albums, Dear Sir and Myra Lee , collaborating with Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley. Cat Power then signed to Matador Records to release her third, more focused album, What Would the Community Think? , which united her with notable indie musicians. She followed with Moon Pix and The Covers Record , receiving notice for her spare, intense originals and radically stripped down takes on folk songs and familiar songs.

Wallace Stanfield "Stan" Lane is an American professional wrestler, trained by Ric Flair, who started wrestling in 1974 in Championship Wrestling... from Florida. For a brief time in Florida, he was nicknamed Nature Boy. He is best known as one half of The Fabulous Ones, the Midnight Express and the Heavenly Bodies. In 1982, Stan Lane went to Mid-Southern Wrestling and formed a team called The Fabulous Ones with Steve Keirn. The team feuded with the Midnight Express, Jerry Lawler & Bill Dundee, The Sheepherders , Randy Savage & Leapin' Lanny Poffo and the Moondogs with whom they had a series of exceptionally bloody matches. They were also pioneers in the "MTV style" of promotion, creating promotional videos and spectacular entrances with their popular theme song "Everybody Wants You" by Billy Squier. In early 1987, Dennis Condrey left JCP from one day to the next, leaving former partner Bobby Eaton on his own. Enter a man that Eaton is very familiar with and a man who is no stranger to tag-teaming, Stan Lane formerly of ‘’the Fabulous Ones’’’.

Kristin Eubanks is an American professional wrestler valet and former general manager. She better known by her ring names Krissy Vaine and Kristin... Astara also for her time in World Wrestling Entertainment . She also trained at WWE's developmental territory, Deep South Wrestling . Eubanks was released from her WWE contract on October 10, 2007 Eubanks made her wrestling debut in September 2000 as Special K, where she acted as a manager for wrestlers. By mid-2003, she transitioned from a managerial role to an in-ring competitor and subsequently adopted the ring name Krissy Vaine. In 2004, Vaine began teaming with Amber O'Neal and the pair were soon named Team Blondage. After a few tryouts with World Wrestling Entertainment on both SmackDown! and Raw, Eubanks began working for several independent promotions, including the Professional Girl Wrestling Association, Women Extreme Wrestling, Memphis Wrestling, the National Wrestling Alliance and Shimmer Women Athletes. In January 22 2006, Eubanks signed a developmental contract with WWE and was assigned to Deep South Wrestling.
