Ocean Grove is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place in Neptune Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey. It had a population of 3,342 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Atlantic Ocean Jersey Shore, between Asbury Park to the north and Bradley Beach to the south. Listed on... the National Register of Historic Places, Ocean Grove is noted for its abundant examples of Victorian architecture. Ocean Grove was founded in 1869 as an outgrowth of the camp meeting movement in the United States, when a group of Methodist clergymen, led by William B. Osborn and Ellwood H. Stokes, formed the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association to develop and operate a summer camp meeting site on the New Jersey seashore. By the early 20th century, the popular Christian meeting ground became known as the "Queen of Religious Resorts." The community's land is still owned by the camp meeting association and leased to individual homeowners and businesses. Ocean Grove remains the longest-active camp meeting site in the United States. Neptune City is a borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough population was 4,869. The Borough of Neptune City was incorporated on October 4, 1881, based on a referendum held on March 19, 1881. The boundaries included all of what is now... Avon-by-the-Sea, the southern portion of Bradley Beach and the present land area known as "Neptune City." On March 23, 1900, a bill approved in the New Jersey Legislature created the Borough of Avon-by-the-Sea. Seven years later, on March 13, 1907, the eastern portion of Neptune City was annexed to the Borough of Bradley Beach. The earliest borough hall was erected in the year 1902 at the northwest corner of Evergreen Avenue and Railroad Avenue . Neptune City is located at 40°12′02″N 74°01′53″W / 40.200463°N 74.031282°W / 40.200463; -74.031282 . According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.9 square miles , all of it land.
