Roman Tam, known by the stage name Lo Man , nickname Law Kee , was a renowned Hong Kong Cantopop singer. He is regarded as the "Godfather of... Cantopop". Tam was seen as a cultural icon to Chinese communities around the world . He had a string of hits in a career spanning 30 years. He was well respected for his singing skills, his positive outlooks, and his insistence on correct pronunciations. He was also groundbreaking for being the first major Hong Kong singer to pose in drag and to pose in nude. Born in Guangzhou, China with family roots in Guiping, Guangxi, he later immigrated to Hong Kong in 1962 at the age of 12. After forming a short-lived band known as Roman and the Four Steps, he became a contract singer under studios term at Television Broadcasts Limited. He briefly switched to Asia Television Ltd in the early 1990s. During the 1990s he accepted many budding singers as his students. Some of which who became famous included Joey Yung and Ekin Cheng.

He is the eldest of the four Hui brothers who remain three of the most... prominent figures in the Hong Kong entertainment circle during the 1970s and the 1980s. Hui is considered by many critics to be the foremost comedian in the Hong Kong film industry before Stephen Chow. He studied in La Salle College, and then earned a degree in sociology from the United College, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Michael remains one of the very few Hong Kong film artistes who holds a non-honorary degree from a university. After a spell hosting quiz shows on TVB, Hui gained popularity in the Hong Kong entertainment industry with his variety show stints in the Hui Brothers Show. He then moved from television to film. Hui's first work was in a film by Taiwanese director Li Han-Hsiang called The Warlord , where he played a farcical warlord in post-revolutionary China. In 1974, he set up his own film company, the Hui Brothers Company, with Golden Harvest, with his brothers Ricky and Sam.

James Wong Jim was a Cantopop lyricist and writer based primarily in Hong Kong. He was also a well known in Asia as a columnist, actor, film... director, screenwriter and talk show hosts. He took part in creative directing positions within the entertainment industry in Hong Kong. Wong was also an alumnus of La Salle College. Wong died of lung cancer after a four-year battle at the age of 64 in 24 November 2004 at 00:46. Wong was born in Panyu, in what now is part of Guangzhou, China and migrated to Hong Kong with his family in 1949. He completed his secondary education at La Salle College. In 1963, he graduated from Chinese Department, Faculty of Arts of the University of Hong Kong. Wong received an MPhil degree from the University of Hong Kong in 1983 for his study in Cantonese opera . In May 2003, in the midst of his fight with lung cancer, he obtained a PhD degree at the Department of Social Science, University of Hong Kong. The title of his thesis was "The rise and decline of cantopop : a study of Hong Kong popular music".

Yuen Woo-ping is a Chinese martial arts choreographer and film director, renowned as one of the most successful and influential figures in the world... of Hong Kong action cinema. He is one of the inductees on the Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong. Yuen is also a son of Yuen Siu-tien, a renowned martial arts film actor. Yuen achieved his first directing credit in 1978 on the seminal Snake in the Eagle's Shadow, starring Jackie Chan, followed quickly by Drunken Master. The films were smash-hits, launching Jackie Chan as a major film-star, turning Seasonal Films into a major independent production company, and starting a trend towards comedy in martial arts films that continues to the present day. Yuen went on to work with such figures as Sammo Hung in Magnificent Butcher , Yuen Biao in Dreadnaught , Donnie Yen in Iron Monkey , and Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh in Tai Chi Master and Wing Chun . Yuen's works, particularly his action choreography on Fist of Legend , attracted the attention of the Wachowski brothers, who hired him as the martial arts choreographer on The Matrix .

Zhou Bichang , is a Chinese singer and songwriter. She was the first runner-up in the 2005 Super Girl Competition, which is a Chinese version of Pop... Idol for female contestants only. Her voice has been appropriated as a female version of David Tao, Leehom Wang, and Jay Chou, as she covered some of their songs during the contest. On March 18, 2006, Zhou signed a recording contract with Yuelin Music. Since then, she has released several singles, an EP, and three albums. Her debut album, "Who Touched My Violin String", was released in August 2006. In Spring 2007, Zhou attended the Encore Program at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, with a concentration in R&B vocal performance. On December 18, 2007, the singer released her twin albums, named "Now" and "Wow", each containing ten songs. "Now" features Zhou's iconic R&B style, and "Wow" showcases her versatility in music genre as she forays into rock, ballad, britpop, dance, etc.. Zhou also started her acting career in 2006 as she starred in the films McDull, the Alumni and The 601st Phone Call.

Liao Zilan is an international concert circuit performer on the guzheng . She has performed at the Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall, and... has toured Spain, Italy, France, Holland, Finland, United States, and Australia. She also participated at the WOMAD Recording Week in Bath, Somerset. Liao began to learn the guzheng at the age of three, when she lived in Guangzhou , Guangdong, China. By the age of nine, she was winning prizes in China, including the prestigious National Youth Music Competition award. She left China with her family in 1983 for the United Kingdom, where she continued her music studies at the famous Chetham's School of Music in Manchester and at the Royal Academy of Music in London. In addition to the guzheng, she also specializes in the Western concert harp and Chinese traditional dance. Apart from playing traditional music and works written by Chinese composers, Liao also has had composers outside China write music for her, which has widened her repertoire from classical to contemporary and electronic music.

John Woo Yu-Sen SBS is a Hong Kong-based film director, writer, and producer. Recognized for his stylised films of highly choreographed action... sequences, Mexican standoffs, and use of slow-motion, Woo has directed several notable Hong Kong action films, among them, A Better Tomorrow, The Killer, Hard Boiled and Red Cliff. His Hollywood films include Hard Target, Broken Arrow, Face/Off and Mission: Impossible 2. He also created the comic series Seven Brothers, published by Virgin Comics. Woo was described by Dave Kehr in The Observer in 2002 as "arguably the most influential director making movies today". Woo cites his three favorite films as David Lean's Lawrence of Arabia, Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai and Jean-Pierre Melville's Le Samouraï. Woo was born amidst the chaos of the Chinese Civil War in 1946. The Christian Woo family, faced with persecution during Mao Zedong's early anti-bourgeois purges after the communist revolution in China, fled to Hong Kong when he was five. Impoverished, the Woo family lived in the slums at Shek Kip Mei.

Keye Luke was a Chinese-born American actor. He was the first Chinese-American contract player signed with RKO, Universal and, later, MGM and is... generally acknowledged as the leading Asian-American actor of this era of American cinema. Luke was born in Guangzhou, China to a father who owned an art shop, but grew up in Seattle. He was part of the Luke family, a relative of Wing Luke, namesake of Seattle's Wing Luke Asian American Museum. He had four siblings who all migrated to California during the Depression. His younger brother Edwin Luke also became an actor in the Charlie Chan series. Luke became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1944 - in a moment fictionally recreated in Lisa See's novel "Shanghai Girls". Before becoming an actor he was a local artist in Seattle and, later, Hollywood, working on several of the murals inside Grauman's Chinese Theater. He did some of the original artwork for the 1933 King Kong pressbook. Luke also painted the casino's mural in The Shanghai Gesture.

Martin Yan is a Chinese-born American chef and the host of the award-winning cooking show Yan Can Cook. With ancestral roots in Kaiping, Guangdong,... China, Yan was born in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China, to a restaurateur father and a grocer mother, Yan began to cook at 12. He moved to Hong Kong when he was 13, and attended the Munsang College in Kowloon City. During this time in Munsang College, he worked at his uncle's Chinese restaurant and learned about the traditional method of Chinese barbecue there. He received a diploma from the Overseas Institute of Cookery of Hong Kong and later left for Canada for continued study. Ten years after his arrival in North America, Yan received a Master of Science degree in food science from University of California, Davis, in 1975. Yan began teaching Chinese cooking for a college extension program and appearing on a Canadian, Calgary talk show in 1978 . He has hosted over 1,500 episodes of the PBS cooking shows Yan Can Cook since 1982. His shows have been broadcast in over 50 countries. He currently hosts Martin Yan - Quick & Easy.

Yang Sze , better known as Bolo Yeung, is a former competitive bodybuilder and a martial arts film actor. Primarily cast as the villain in the movies... he stars in, he is best known for his performances as Bolo in Enter the Dragon and as Chong Li in Bloodsport, and also for his many appearances in martial arts B-movies. Bolo began his martial arts training at the age of 10 in Guangzhou, China, where he studied under several kung fu masters. Growing up he took an interest in bodybuilding. Later he became Mr. Hong Kong bodybuilding champion. He held the title for ten years. Because of his impressively muscular physique he was chosen for several bad guy roles in films produced by Shaw Brothers Studios such as The Heroic Ones, The Deadly Duo, Angry Guest and others. He left Shaw Brothers in 1971. Bolo met Bruce Lee while the two were filming a Winston cigarettes commercial. A friendship emerged and Bruce invited him to star in Enter the Dragon, where he became known as Bolo.
