Game Overview

The no holds barred, sci-fi fighting franchise is reborn on the Nintendo DS. Guilty Gear Dust Strikers features all 21 Guilty Gear characters from previous versions and now the battle takes place on multiple levels across both DS screens with up to 4 players at once. Players will have to navigate different types of floors and traps as they battle versus CPU characters or via Wi-Fi connections in battle royal rules where the last person standing is the winner.

The Good

Good-looking character sprites and attack animations, More than 20 great Guilty Gear characters.

The Bad

Four-character battle system is a confusing mess, Most of the minigames are terrible, Poor directional controls will often leave you facing away from your opponents, Multilevel stages add nothing but frustration to the fights.

Dust Strikers defies convention for the worse, resulting in an awkward and frustrating fighting game.

While I can understand the developers change up the formula to adjust to a new platform with its own unique features, the execution of this is something less the desired.

The gameplay is sloppy and basic, the characters suffer from less of an animation budget on the smaller system, and the overall feel just isn't worthy of the Guilty Gear name.
