Cornelia "Corrie" ten Boom was a Dutch Christian, who with her father and other family members helped many Jews escape the Nazi Holocaust during... World War II. Her family was arrested due to an informant in 1944, and her father died 10 days later at Scheveningen prison where they were first held. A sister, brother and nephew were released, but Corrie and her sister Betsie were sent to Ravensbruck concentration camp, where only Corrie survived. Ten Boom wrote eight books and spoke frequently in the postwar years about her experiences. She aided Holocaust survivors. She wrote an autobiography, The Hiding Place , about her experiences. It was adapted as a film of the same name two years later and starred Jeannette Clift as Corrie. In 1940, the Nazis invaded the Netherlands. Among their restrictions was banning a club which Corrie ten Boom had run for young girls. In 1942, she and her family had become very active in the Dutch underground, hiding refugees. They rescued many Jews from the Nazi SS. They had long been involved in charitable work, and ten Boom had worked with disabled children.

Femke Halsema is a former Dutch politician. She was a member of the House of Representatives from 1998 till 2011. She was also the leader of the... Fles - was a long-time alderwoman for the social-democratic PvdA party in Enschede. Halsema thinks that she has probably a Jewish background on her mother's side. In 1984 Halsema graduated from high school with a HAVO diploma. After that she took courses at the Vrije Hogeschool in Driebergen. In 1985 she started training as a teacher, specializing in History and Dutch in Utrecht. She quit the teacher training programme in 1988 without taking her degree, and commenced on a degree course in social sciences at the University of Utrecht. In 1992 she became a "supernumerary lecturer in scientific methods and techniques" at the faculty for social sciences. She took her degree in 1993, having specialized in criminology. After 1993 Halsema's career began to develop.

In 1983 he became a law professor of methods and techniques and in 1991 rector magnificus at Maastricht University. As a member of the Labour Party, Cohen held several political positions and offices over the years. He was State Secretary for Education and Sciences in the third Lubbers cabinet , member of and parliamentary group leader in the Senate , State Secretary for Justice in the second Kok cabinet , and Mayor of Amsterdam . He resigned as mayor in order to become the top candidate for the Labour Party in the 2010 general election. On April 25, 2010 Cohen was officially elected as lijsttrekker of the Labour Party. From 2010 he served as the leader of the Labour Party and from June 17, 2010 he was a member of the House of Representatives, where he also was the Parliamentary group leader of the Labour Party.

Alex van Warmerdam is a Dutch screenwriter, film director, and actor. He is also a painter. He was cofounder of the theatre group Hauser Orkater .... In 1980 he founded the theatre group De Mexicaanse Hond , together with his brother Marc van Warmerdam. This is the name under which all the shows since 1989 have been released. He made his first feature film in 1986: Abel. He plays parts in most of his own movies, mostly performing as a lead character. Alex van Warmerdam is married to Dutch actress Annet Malherbe, who also plays parts in most of his films. Their son Mees is a musician and has performed in various shows by theatre group De Mexicaanse Hond. In the following films he was writer, director, and actor, unless stated otherwise.
