Ivor Wynne Stadium is a Canadian football stadium located at the corner of Balsam and Beechwood Avenues, two blocks west of Gage Avenue North in... Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The stadium was originally constructed in 1928 to host the 1930 British Empire Games, though playing fields had stood on the site since the city bought the land from a local farmer in 1913. The stadium, which currently seats 29,600 for football, has been the home of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL since 1950. The club's previous home had been the HAAA Grounds. The stadium consists of a large grandstand on one side of the field, with a small section curving around the end zone, and a separate grandstand on the opposite side of the field. The stadium was heavily rebuilt in 1970-71 and renamed for Ivor Wynne, the former chairman of the city Parks Board, in 1971. From 1971 to 1975, Ivor Wynne's 34,500 seats made it the largest stadium in the CFL. Ivor Wynne was the second facility in Canada to use Astroturf, after Empire Stadium in Vancouver. In the 1980s, the west endzone bleachers were removed for the addition of a new scoreboard, dropping capacity to approximately 29,500.

Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium is a stadium on Upper Kenilworth Avenue in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Located in Mohawk Sports Park, it is primarily... used for baseball and was once the home of the minor league Hamilton Redbirds of the New York - Penn League. Built in 1970 when Civic Stadium was renovated to football only, it is named for former Hamilton police sergeant Bernie Arbour, who was the director of Hamilton youth baseball from 1948 to his death in 1967. The Stadium is currently the home of the Hamilton Thunderbirds of the Intercounty Baseball League as well as the McMaster University Marauders. The ballpark has a capacity of 3,000 people. Bernie Arbour Stadium dimensions are 300 feet down the left field line, 325 down right field, 365 to left-center, 405 to straight-away center and 365 to the power alley in right-center. The main grandstand accommodates upwards of 300 spectators and another 1,000 + spectators can be seated in the first and third base bleachers. The Press Box, seats up to 10 members of the media and is capable of supporting radio and television broadcasts.

Hamilton Palace was a large country house located north-east of Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The former seat of the Dukes of Hamilton, it... was built in 1695 and subsequently much enlarged. The house was demolished in 1921 due to ground subsidence despite inadequate evidence for that. It is widely acknowledged as having been one of the grandest houses in Scotland. Built on the site of a 13th century tower house, the south front of Hamilton Palace was erected in 1695 by architect James Smith for William, 3rd Duke of Hamilton and his wife Duchess Anne. A new North Front had been planned by the fifth Duke in the 1730s, and extensive plans were prepared by William Adam. However the Duke's early death and the significant costs involved postponed further major work, although modifications and additions continued during the next century, including the purchase or exchange of land surrounding the palace, enabling extensive landscaping to take place. The North Front itself was finally completed 1842 by architect David Hamilton for Alexander, the tenth Duke using Adam's original plans as a structure.

Ron Joyce Stadium is a football stadium owned by McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The stadium is the home of the McMaster Marauders... football team and the Hamilton Nationals of Major League Lacrosse. The stadium features 6,000 permanent seats and temporary seating for an additional 6,000 on the other side of the field when needed for national events. An underground parking garage is below the stadium grounds that will serve visitors to the stadium plus daily campus parking needs. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League also use the stadium for training during the spring and summer. The stadium features a large press box with facilities for live TV and radio broadcasts, as well as working areas for print media, game operations staff, as well as home and visiting team coaches and spotters. The participant level of the stadium features dressing rooms for the visiting teams and game officials, as well as more luxurious dressing room facilities for Marauder football, soccer, and rugby teams. There is also a satellite sports medicine clinic for players to receive taping and treatments. Multi-purpose rooms are also used for video review of game tape.

Karen Alexandria Kain, CC is a retired Canadian ballet dancer, and currently the Artistic Director of the National Ballet of Canada. Karen Kain's... mother enrolled her daughter in ballet training because she believed it would improve her posture, poise, and discipline. Kain began training in 1962 at the age of eleven at the National Ballet School of Canada, where she trained for seven years until upon graduation in 1969, she was invited to join the National Ballet of Canada. Kain became a principal dancer in 1971, dancing central roles in a wide array of ballets, eventually becoming a well-known dancer in Canada, with the help of legendary dancer Rudolf Nureyev. She worked as a guest artist with Roland Petit's Le Ballet National de Marseilles, the Bolshoi Ballet, the London Festival Ballet, the Paris Opera Ballet, the Hamburg Ballet, the Vienna State Opera Ballet, and the Eliot Feld Ballet. In the late 1970s Kain stopped dancing, but resumed again in 1980 with the National Ballet of Canada, where she danced for a further 15 years. Kain retired as a professional dancer in 1997.

Oneida, born in Ohsweken on the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario, the son of Lillian and John Greene, who was an ambulance driver and maintenance man. He lived in Hamilton, Ontario as a young adult. Greene's first brushes with the entertainment industry came when he was an audio technician for rock bands based in Newfoundland and Labrador, when he went by the alias Mabes. He graduated from The Centre for Indigenous Theatre's Native Theatre School program in 1974, which was based in Toronto. Soon after, he began performing in professional theatre in Toronto and England. Greene's TV debut was in an episode of The Great Detective in 1979, and his screen debut was in 1983 in Running Brave. He appeared in such films as Revolution and Powwow Highway, as well as the First Nations, CBC TV series Spirit Bay. It was his Academy Award-nominated role as Kicking Bird in the 1990 film Dances with Wolves that brought him fame.

He... was one of the first political leaders to use radio to reach a mass audience, as more than thirty million tuned to his weekly broadcasts during the 1930s. Early in his career Coughlin was a vocal supporter of Franklin D. Roosevelt and his early New Deal proposals, before later becoming a harsh critic of Roosevelt as too friendly to bankers. In 1934 he announced a new political organization called the National Union for Social Justice. He wrote a platform calling for monetary reforms, the nationalization of major industries and railroads, and protection of the rights of labor. The membership ran into the millions, resembling the Populist movement of the 1890s. After hinting at attacks on Jewish bankers, Coughlin began to use his radio program to issue antisemitic commentary, and later to support at least some of the policies of Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. The broadcasts have been called "a variation of the Fascist agenda applied to American culture".

Daniel Lanois is a Canadian record producer, guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. He has released a number of albums of his own work and has... produced albums for a wide variety of artists, including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Peter Gabriel, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Brandon Flowers and Ron Sexsmith. Lanois is best known for his work with Brian Eno, producing a number of platinum albums for U2, including The Joshua Tree. Three albums produced or co-produced by Lanois have won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, and four others received nominations. Lanois started his production career when he was 17, working in his own studio with his brother Bob Lanois in the basement of their mother's Ancaster, Ontario home, recording local artists including Simply Saucer. Later Daniel started Grant Avenue Studios in an old house he purchased in Hamilton, Ontario. He worked with a number of local bands, including Martha and the Muffins , Ray Materick, as well as the Canadian children's singer Raffi.

Neil Ellwood Peart , OC, is a Canadian musician and author. He is the drummer and lyricist for the rock band Rush. Peart grew up in Port Dalhousie,... Ontario . During adolescence, he floated from regional band to regional band in pursuit of a career as a full-time drummer. After a discouraging stint in England to concentrate on his music, Peart returned home, where he joined a local Toronto band, Rush, in the summer of 1974. Early in his career, Peart's performance style was deeply rooted in hard rock. He drew most of his inspiration from drummers such as Keith Moon and John Bonham, players who were at the forefront of the British hard rock scene. As time passed, however, he began to emulate jazz and big band musicians Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich. In 1994, Peart became a friend and pupil of jazz instructor Freddie Gruber. It was during this time that Peart decided to revamp his playing style by incorporating jazz and swing components. Gruber was also responsible for introducing him to the products of Drum Workshop, the company whose products Peart currently endorses.

David Victor Sim is an award-winning Canadian comic book writer and artist. A pioneer of self-published comics and creators' rights, Sim is best... known as the creator of Cerebus the Aardvark, a comic book published from 1977 to 2004, which chronicles its main character in a 6,000-page self-contained story. Originally a satire of sword and sorcery comics, Cerebus later delved into metaphysics, theology, politics, and an examination of modern feminism, while becoming progressively more experimental in storytelling and artwork. Sim's work in Cerebus proved influential on several generations of comics creators, including his use of extended story arcs. Dave Sim was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and moved to Kitchener, Ontario with his family when he was two. His father Ken — a native of Glasgow, Scotland — was a factory supervisor at Budd Automotive and his mother an elementary school secretary. He has an older sister named Sheila. He was interested in comics from an early age, and dropped out of high school to pursue a career in the field. John Herbert Frid is a theater, television, and film actor, best known for playing the role of vampire Barnabas Collins on the gothic television... soap opera Dark Shadows. Born of Scottish ancestry in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Frid was the son of Herbert "H.P." Frid, a construction company executive, and the former Flora McGregor, a homemaker. He had two brothers, named Douglas and David , and a sister named Margaret. David followed their father into the construction business, while Douglas ran a ski lodge. Frid served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. He graduated from McMaster University in 1948, and the following year was accepted at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. He moved to the United States in 1954, and received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Directing from the Yale School of Drama in 1957. He began using the stage name Jonathan Frid in 1962. As a student at Yale, Frid starred in the premiere of William Snyder's play A True And Special Friend.
