Kristin A. Scott Thomas, OBE is an English actress who has also acquired French nationality. She gained international recognition in the 1990s for... her roles in Bitter Moon, Four Weddings and a Funeral and The English Patient. Since the 1980s, she has also worked in French cinema in films such as the thriller Tell No One and Philippe Claudel's I've Loved You So Long. She has lived in France since she was 19, has brought up her three children in Paris, and says she considers herself more French than British. She was made a chevalier of the Légion d'honneur in 2005. Scott Thomas was born in Redruth, Cornwall. Her mother, Deborah , was brought up in Hong Kong and Africa, and studied drama before marrying Scott Thomas's father. Her father, Lieutenant Commander Simon Scott Thomas, was a pilot for the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm who died in a flying accident in 1964. She is the elder sister of actress Serena Scott Thomas, the niece of Admiral Sir Richard Thomas , and a more distant great-great-niece of Captain Scott, the ill-fated explorer who lost the race to the South Pole.

Gerald "Gerry" Rafferty was a Scottish singer songwriter best known for his solo hits "Baker Street", "Right Down the Line", "Days Gone Down",... "Night Owl", "Get It Right Next Time", and with the band Stealers Wheel, "Stuck in the Middle with You". Rafferty was born into a working class family in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. His mother taught him both Irish and Scottish folk songs as a boy; later, he was influenced by the music of The Beatles and Bob Dylan. He joined the folk-pop band The Humblebums in 1969, but left in 1971 and recorded his first solo album Can I Have My Money Back. Rafferty and Joe Egan formed the group Stealers Wheel in 1972, producing several hits, most notably "Stuck in the Middle with You". In 1978, he recorded his second solo album, City to City, which includes "Baker Street", his most popular song. Rafferty was born on 16 April 1947 into a working-class family in Paisley, a son and grandson of coal miners. He was a son of Mary Skeffington and Joseph Rafferty ; and had two brothers, Jim and Joe . Rafferty grew up in a council house on the town’s Foxbar estate and was educated at St Mirin's Academy.

Michael Hazen James McIntyre is a British stand-up comedian. As well as his stand-up, he has performed on programmes such as Live at the Apollo and... has his own programme, Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow. McIntyre has released two stand-up DVDs; Live and Laughing in 2008 featured material from his first nationwide tour, while Michael McIntyre: Hello Wembley was released in November 2009 following a set at Wembley Arena. The former was the fastest selling debut stand-up DVD ever, and Hello Wembley is the fastest selling stand-up DVD in UK chart history, selling over a million copies. In 2009 McIntyre performed live to half a million people and won Best Live Stand-up at the British Comedy Awards. In 2010, McIntyre released his autobiography, Life and Laughing: My Story, and also became the youngest-ever host of the Royal Variety Performance. He started as a judge on the fifth series of Britain's Got Talent in April 2011. He is to embark on his second nationwide tour in 2012. McIntyre was born in Merton, southwest London, and raised in Hampstead.

Stephen John Fry is an English actor, screenwriter, author, playwright, journalist, poet, comedian, television presenter and film director, and a... director of Norwich City Football Club. He first came to attention in the 1981 Cambridge Footlights Revue presentation "The Cellar Tapes", which also included Hugh Laurie, Emma Thompson and Tony Slattery. With Hugh Laurie, as the comedy double act Fry and Laurie, he co-wrote and co-starred in A Bit of Fry & Laurie, and the duo also played the title roles in Jeeves and Wooster. As a solo actor, Fry played the lead in the film Wilde, was Melchett in the BBC television series Blackadder, starred as the title character Peter Kingdom in the ITV series Kingdom, and is the host of the quiz show QI. He also presented a 2008 television series Stephen Fry in America, which saw him travelling across all 50 U.S. states in six episodes. Fry has a recurring guest role as Dr. Gordon Wyatt on the Fox crime series Bones and had a supporting role as rogue TV host Gordon Dietrich in the dystopian thriller V For Vendetta.

Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien OBE , known professionally as Dusty Springfield and dubbed The White Queen of Soul, was a British pop singer... whose career extended from the late 1950s to the 1990s. With her distinctive sensual sound, she was an important white soul singer, and at her peak was one of the most successful British female performers, with 18 singles in the Billboard Hot 100 from 1964 to 1970. She is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the U.K. Music Hall of Fame. International polls have named Springfield among the best female rock artists of all time. Born in West London to an Irish Catholic family that enjoyed music, Springfield learned to sing at home. She joined her first professional group, The Lana Sisters, in 1958, then formed the pop-folk vocal trio The Springfields in 1960 with her brother Dion. Her solo career began in 1963 with the upbeat pop hit, "I Only Want to Be with You" . Among the hits that followed were "Wishin' and Hopin'" , "I Just Don't Know What to Do with Myself" , "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" , and "Son of a Preacher Man" .

Marianne Evelyn Faithfull is an award-winning English singer, songwriter and actress whose career has spanned five decades. Her early work in pop... and rock music in the 1960s was overshadowed by her struggle with drug abuse in the 1970s. Her mother, Eva von Sacher-Masoch, Baroness Erisso, was originally from Vienna, with aristocratic roots in the Habsburg Dynasty and Jewish ancestry on her maternal side.

Sir John Clifford Mortimer, CBE, QC was a British barrister, dramatist, screenwriter and author. Mortimer was born in Hampstead, London, the only... child of Kathleen May and Clifford Mortimer, a barrister who became blind in 1936, when he banged his head on a tree branch, but still pursued his career. His father's loss of sight was not acknowledged openly by the family. Mortimer was educated at the Dragon School, Oxford, and Harrow, where he joined the Communist Party forming a one member cell. Originally Mortimer intended to be an actor, his lead role in the Dragon's 1937 production of Richard II, gained glowing reviews in The Draconian, and then a writer, but his father persuaded him against it advising: "My dear boy, have some consideration for your unfortunate wife [the law] gets you out of the house." At seventeen, he went up to Brasenose College, Oxford where he read law, though he was actually based at Christ Church because the Brasenose buildings had been requisitioned for the war effort.

Samantha Eggar is an English film, television and voice actress. She was born Victoria Louise Samantha Marie Elizabeth Therese Eggar in Hampstead,... London to an Anglo-Irish father and a mother of Dutch and Portuguese descent. She was raised Roman Catholic and educated at St Mary's Providence Convent, Woking, Surrey. She began her acting career in several Shakespearean companies, and debuted on film in 1962 in The Wild and the Willing. Also in 1962 she played Ethel Le Neve in the film Dr. Crippen, alongside Donald Pleasence. Eggar starred in the comedy Walk Don't Run with Cary Grant in his last picture and Jim Hutton, father of actor Timothy Hutton. She received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress for The Collector , directed by William Wyler. She won a Golden Globe award for this performance and was also named Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival. Eggar appeared in such films as Curtains, Doctor Dolittle, The Molly Maguires, Dark Horse, The Brood, and The Light at the Edge of the World. In 1972, she played the governess opposite Yul Brynner for the short-run TV show Anna and the King.

Skye was born Ione Skye Leitch in Hertfordshire, England, the daughter of folk singer/songwriter Donovan and model Enid Karl . Her father is Scottish and her mother is an American from a Jewish family. She is the younger sister of Camp Freddy singer Donovan Leitch, who is married to former model Kirsty Hume. Skye was raised in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Connecticut. She attended Immaculate Heart High School and Hollywood High School for the Performing Arts in 1987. Skye's best-known performance was as Diane Court in the 1989 film Say Anything... She made her film debut in River's Edge in 1986, and played the title character in The Rachel Papers . In 1992, she played the role of Eleanor Grey on the short-lived TV show Covington Cross and a supporting role in the Stephen La Rocque film Samantha.
