Cara Black is a professional Zimbabwean tennis player. She has won 7 singles titles and 64 women's doubles titles. She has won all four Grand Slam... mixed doubles titles and three of the four Grand Slam titles in women's doubles. Black has been one of the foremost doubles players of the early 21st century. Born in Rhodesia as the daughter of Don and Velia Black, the tennis-playing Cara is the younger sister of Wayne Black and Byron Black, both professional male tennis players. All three compete mostly in doubles; Wayne was the 2001 US Open and 2005 Australian Open champion and Byron was the 1994 French Open winner. Black partnered with her brother Wayne to win the 2002 French Open and 2004 Wimbledon Championships mixed doubles events. Black has also engaged in long-term partnerships with Elena Likhovtseva, Irina Selyutina, Rennae Stubbs, Liezel Huber, Anastasia Rodionova, and most recently Shahar Peer. In August 2005, Black announced that she would marry her longtime boyfriend, Australian mental and fitness trainer Brett Stephens.

Wayne Hamilton Black is a former professional male tennis player from Zimbabwe. Black is the son of Don and Velia Black and the brother of Cara... Black and Byron Black, also professional tennis players. He attended the University of Southern California and was an All-American in singles and doubles . Black retired from the doubles circuit at the end of 2005. He won two men's doubles Grand Slam titles with compatriot Kevin Ullyett and two Grand Slam mixed doubles titles with sister Cara. As a junior Wayne played league tennis for Highlands Sports Club in Harare. Black reached his career-high doubles ranking of 4 on 31 January 2005, following his second Grand Slam title win at the 2005 Australian Open with compatriot Kevin Ullyett. Black, like his two siblings, was a doubles specialist.

Kevin Ullyett is a former professional tennis player from Zimbabwe. His primary success on the tour has been in men's doubles. He has won 24 doubles... titles, including the 2001 US Open and the 2005 Australian Open, both with Wayne Black. He competed at the 2000 and 2004 Olympics in doubles tennis with Wayne Black, coming fifth in 2004. In mixed doubles, Ullyett won the 2002 Australian Open with Daniela Hantuchová. He reached the final of Wimbledon in 2002 with Hantuchová and the semifinals of Wimbledon in 2003 and 2005 with Hantuchová and Liezel Huber, respectively. He and Huber were the runners-up at the 2005 Australian Open. Black, Ullyett's compatriot and long-time doubles partner, retired at the end of 2005. He then played with Jonas Björkman, who retired at the end of 2008, and finally with Brazilian Bruno Soares. His father, Robert Ullyett, represented Rhodesia at cricket and field hockey. He was part of the national team that competed at the 1964 Olympics .

Oliver "Tuku" Mtukudzi is a Zimbabwean musician . Mtukudzi began performing in 1977 when he joined the Wagon Wheels, a band that also featured Thomas... Mapfumo. Their single, "Dzandimomotera", went gold and Tuku's first album followed, which was also a major success. Mtukudzi is also a contributor to Mahube, Southern Africa's "supergroup". With his husky voice, he has become the most recognized voice to emerge from Zimbabwe and onto the international scene and he has earned a devoted following across Africa and beyond. A member of Zimbabwe's KoreKore tribe, Nzou Samanyanga as his totem, he sings in the nation's dominant Shona language along with Ndebele and English. He also incorporates elements of different musical traditions, giving his music a distinctive style, known to fans as "Tuku Music". Mtukudzi has had a number of tours around the world. He has been on several tours in the UK, US and Canada to perform for large audiences. Unlike Mapfumo, Mtukudzi has refrained from directly criticizing the repressive government of President Robert Mugabe, perhaps because he still lives in the country.

He is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions including the Langston Hughes Award from the Langston Hughes Society and the Key to the City of Dallas, TX. Asante is the author of three celebrated books. His most recent book, It's Bigger Than Hip Hop is creative nonfiction that uses hip hop culture as a vehicle to explore social issues facing the hip hop and post hip hop generations. It's Bigger Than Hip Hop was described by Ari Bloomekatz of The Los Angeles Times as: "An empowering book that moves you to action and to question status quo America. Simon Chopper Chimbetu was a Zimbabwean guitarist, vocalist and composer. He was the founding member his band Orchestra Dendera Kings. Chimbetu was... born in the Musengezi area of Mbire District in Mashonaland Province of Zimbabwe on 23 September 1955. But his ancestral tribal origins of the Samanyika tribe is in Manicaland,the eastern region of Zimbabwe, bordering with the neighbouring country of Mozambique. His father was a bricklayer and Simon regularly accompanied his father on his business errands. He attended the local Musengezi High School before trekking to Harare to look for employment. Chimbetu got involved in the fledgling liberation struggle and at one point went as far as Tanzania after joining the ZANU PF movement forces training there. Although he did not go to the front, Simon provided morale through his music. He returned to Zimbabwe before 1980. Chimbetu's musical orientation is strongly influenced by his experiences as a black person in racially-polarised Rhodesia and a liberation fighter with Marxist ideals at first.
