Isabel Coixet is a Spanish film director. She received an M.A. in history from the University of Barcelona. She has worked as a journalist and as a director for several television advertisements. Coixet was creative director of JWT, founder and creative director of the agency Target and the... production company Eddie Saeta and, since 2000, owner of Miss Wasabi Lab SL. She has done ads for British Telecommunications, Ford, Danone, BMW, Ikea, Evax, Renault, Peugeot, Winston, Kronenbourg, Pepsi, Kellogg Company, MCI, Helene Curtis, Procter Gamble, Philip Morris and the ONCE foundation , amongst others. She is a public supporter of the Spanish Socialist Worker's Party and President Zapatero and made several Socialist ads for television during the 2008 Elections. Coixet, Bigas Luna and Martín Patino prepared an exhibit each for the Spanish Pavilion at the 2010 Expo.

José Miguel Monzón, also known as El Gran Wyoming or Guayo is an actor, director and humorist; he is licensed in Medicine but not an M.D.. He was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1955. He has been showman of several programs like Silencio se juega , La noche se mueve and El peor programa de la... semana . Televisión Española refused to broadcast this last episode because of an interview with the writer Quim Monzó, in which a joke was made about the laboral activity of Elena de Borbón, the daughter of the King. The official reason given was the low ratings of the program. In 1995 el Guayo returned to TV, but this time he appeared on private channel Telecinco. The name of the program was Caiga quien caiga. He was firstly critical of Felipe Gonzalez's government and later against the government of that time, the Partido Popular. In 2004 he obtained another program in Televisión Española: La Azotea de Wyoming. It was not completely successful. Now he is doing El Intermedio on La Sexta.

He first achieved notoriety as the producer of Luis Buñuel's Viridiana; his connection with the controversial film caused him trouble with the Francoist government, which eventually lead to his passport... being taken away. Portabella has completed 10 features to date, the most recent being 2007's Die Stille vor Bach. He frequently collaborates with composer Carles Santos. Portabella was elected as a senator during Spain's first democratic elections in 1977 and participated in the writing of the Spanish Constitution. He has also been a member of the Parliament of Catalonia. Since 2001 Pere Portabella is the president of Fundación Alternativas, one of the most important left-wing think tank of Spain.

Juan Diego Botto-Rota is an Argentine-Spanish actor. Botto's father disappeared during the Argentine Dirty War when Juan Diego was only two years old. With his mother and older sister María, also an actress, he moved to Madrid, Spain, where he currently resides. Botto started acting at the... age of 5 in the film Juego de poder . His role in the 1999 film Sobreviviré , about a woman who falls in love with a man who, unknown to her, is homosexual, got him more national and international recognition. Botto has appeared on stage in Spain in several critically acclaimed plays. He also directed a play called Privilegio de ser perro , about the tough life immigrants are subjected to while trying to sneak into and live in a new country. Currently Botto lives in Madrid with his partner, the Spanish journalist and writer Olga Rodríguez. He is also active in politics, protesting the 2003 war in Iraq several times with fellow Spaniards and taking part in a support group for fellow children of the disappeared.

Julio Medem is a Spanish writer and film director. Medem was born in San Sebastián, Basque Country, Spain and showed an interest in movies since childhood, when he would take his father's Super 8 camera and shoot at night, while nobody was paying attention. After college graduation he worked... as a film critic and later as a screenwriter, assistant director and editor. After a few shorts he directed his first full length feature, Vacas for which he won a Goya Award. After this film he directed The Red Squirrel and Earth, both receiving good reviews at Cannes. In his next movie, Lovers of the Arctic Circle, which has been compared to the works of Krzysztof Kieślowski, he explored circular narrative and a taste for minimalistic textures that he then overcame in his next film, Sex and Lucia, where the plot dissolves into a very lyrical eroticism. After this film he took a tangent from his style to direct and produce La pelota vasca , a documentary film about the political problems of the Basque Country, which caused a furor amongst victims of terrorism.

Manuel Rivas is a Galician writer, poet and journalist. He began his career in some Spanish newspapers like El Ideal Gallego, La Voz de Galicia, El Pais, and was the sub-editor of Diario 16 in Galicia. Rivas has written well known poems, novels, articles and literature essays. Rivas is considered... a revolutionary in contemporary Galician literature. He was a founding member of Greenpeace Spain, and played an important role during the Prestige oil spill near the Galician coast. Some of his work has been adapted to cinema, such as A lingua das bolboretas and O Lápis do Carpinteiro. Rivas's book Que me quieres, amor? , a series of 16 short stories, was adapted by director Jose Luis Cuerda for his film, La lengua de las mariposas . O Lápis do Carpinteiro, or The Carpenter's Pencil in English, has been published in nine countries and is the most widely translated work in the history of Galician literature.

Vicente Aranda Ezguerra was born in Barcelona on 9 November 1926. He was the youngest son in a large and impoverished family who had emigrated from Aragón to Barcelona twenty years before he was born. He barely knew his father, an itinerant photographer, who died when the child was only seven years old. The Spanish Civil War, in which his family took the side of the losing Republicans, marked his childhood.

Icíar Bollaín Pérez-Mínguez is a Spanish actress, director and writer. Her father was an aeronautical engineer and her mother a music teacher. At the age of fourteen, she was cast in Victor Erice's film El Sur . Since then Icíar Bollaín has acted in fourteen films. With her twin sister Marina she was cast by their uncle Juan Sebastián Bollaín in two films Las dos orillas and Dime una mentira . She also took roles in films directed by Felipe Vega, Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón and José Luis Borau. Her red hair led Ken Loach to give her a role in his film Land and Freedom about the Spanish civil war. Her experience working with Loach led her to write the book: Ken Loach: un observador solitario. She formed her production company La Iguana and made twoo short films: Baja Corazón and Los Amigos del muerto .
