Montana Governor's Residence is located at 2 Carson Street, Helena, Montana. It began operation as the governor's residence in 1959, replacing the... old governor’s mansion. The residence is a two-level steel and concrete house located two blocks from the Montana State Capitol building. The Former Montana Executive Mansion is a property in Helena, Montana, that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places by that name in 1970. In 1913, the state of Montana acquired a mansion to serve as the official residence for the governor of Montana. The house and carriage house were built originally in 1888 by William Chessman. Between 1913 and 1959, it was home to nine Montana governors and their families. Also known as the William Chessman Mansion or the Original Governor's Mansion, it was built, or has other significance, in 1888. It is in Queen Anne style, and was designed by the St. Paul, Minnesota, firm of Hodgson, Stem, & Welter. The listing included two contributing buildings on an area of 1 acre .

Stephen Edward Ambrose was an American historian and biographer of U.S. Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower and Richard Nixon. He was a long time... professor of history at the University of New Orleans and the author of many best selling volumes of American popular history. Beginning late in his life and continuing after his death, however, evidence and reports have continued to surface documenting long time patterns of plagiarism, falsification, and inaccuracies in many of his published writings and other work. In response to one of the early reports, Ambrose said he was not "out there stealing other people's writings." Ambrose was born in Lovington, Illinois to Rosepha Trippe Ambrose and Stephen Hedges Ambrose. His father was a physician who served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Ambrose was raised in Whitewater, Wisconsin, where he graduated from Whitewater High School. His family also owned a farm in Lovington, Illinois and vacation property in Marinette County, Wisconsin.

Loy was born Myrna Adele Williams in Helena, Montana, to Adelle Mae and rancher David Franklin Williams, in nearby Radersburg. Her paternal grandparents were natives of Wales, and her maternal grandparents were Swedish and Scottish. Her first name came from a train station whose name her father liked. Her father was also a banker and real estate developer and the youngest man ever elected to the Montana state legislature. Her mother studied music at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago.

The song, her debut single, was a Number One Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks hit and #8 pop hit that year. It was followed by four more Adult Contemporary hits, two of which were also minor pop hits. By 1985, she shifted her focus to country music, charting six times on the Hot Country Singles charts. Her only Top 40 country hit was "That's How You Know When Love's Right", a duet with Steve Wariner. She died in 1997 of cerebral edema and liver failure. Nicolette Larson was born in Helena, Montana. Her father's employment with the U.S. Treasury Department necessitated frequent relocation for Larson's family. She graduated from high school in Kansas City, Missouri where Larson attended the University of Missouri for three semesters and also worked at waitressing and office jobs before giving in to the pursuit of a musical career she'd dreamed of since singing along to the radio as a child.

Colin Patrick Henry Meloy is the lead singer and songwriter for the Portland, Oregon, folk-rock band The Decemberists. In addition to vocals, he... performs with an acoustic guitar, 12-string acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bouzouki, harmonica and percussion. Meloy was born in Helena, Montana. His sister is Maile Meloy, an author often published in The New Yorker. Meloy attended the University of Oregon in Eugene for two years, studying English, before returning to Montana and enrolling in the creative writing program at the University of Montana in Missoula. He graduated in 1998. While in high school, Meloy was in Happy Cactus, and when in college, in Missoula, he was the lead singer and songwriter for Tarkio. Both were indie/folk/alternative country bands. Soon after graduation, Meloy left Tarkio and moved to Portland. There he found, to his disappointment, that he pretty much had to start again, "going to open mics, sometimes with no one else in the room save the bartender. [... However, w] When I was in that position, with nobody to appeal to or scare away, I thought, ‘I might as well do whatever I want to do,’ Meloy [said in 2009].

Lane Chandler was an American actor specializing in Westerns. He was born as Robert Chandler Oakes on a ranch near Culbertson, Montana, the son of a... horse rancher. At an early age, the family relocated to Helena, Montana, where he graduated from high school. He briefly attended Montana Wesleyan College , but quit to drive a tour bus at Yellowstone National Park. In the early 1920s he moved to Los Angeles, California, and started working as an auto mechanic. His real-life experiences growing up on a horse ranch landed him bit parts in westerns from 1925, for Paramount Pictures. Studio executives suggested changing his name to Lane Chandler, and as such he began achieving leading roles opposite stars like Clara Bow, Greta Garbo, Betty Bronson and Esther Ralston. His first lead role was in The Legion of the Condemned. As a silent film star Chandler performed well, but when talkies arrived he was cast more in supporting roles, as in The Great Mike of 1944.

Frank James Cooper, known professionally as Gary Cooper, was an American film actor. He was renowned for his quiet, understated acting style and his... stoic, but at times intense screen persona, which was particularly well suited to the many Westerns he made. He also excelled in sophisticated, screwball romantic comedies. His career spanned from 1925 until shortly before his death in 1961, and comprised more than one hundred films. James C. Morton was an American character actor. He appeared in 187 films between 1922 and 1943. Born in Helena, Montana, Morton is best known to... modern audiences as the hapless soul whose toupée was often removed at the most inopportune times. Perhaps the best known example of this embarrassment is in the Three Stooges film Disorder in the Court, in which Larry Fine's violin bow yanks Morton's hair piece off. The Stooges then misinterpret the toupée as a wild tarantula, leading Moe Howard to shoot at it. Morton appeared in many Hal Roach productions, playing supporting roles with Our Gang and Laurel and Hardy., and also played a small role in Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times. On the Los Angeles stage, Morton played the title role of Tik-Tok in The Tik-Tok Man of Oz , by L. Frank Baum, Louis F. Gottschalk, Victor Schertzinger, and Oliver Morosco. Morton died in 1942 of a heart attack in Reseda, California, aged 58.
