The Frank G. Zarb School of Business, located at Hofstra University, is noted for its dual AACSB accreditations in business and accounting. The... school is named after alumnus Frank G. Zarb, '57 B.B.A., '62 M.B.A., who was the chair and CEO of the National Association of Securities Dealers and a senior partner of Lazard Freres & Co. The current dean of the business school, Dr. Patrick Socci served as associate dean and visiting associate professor of information systems in the College of Business Administration at Fordham University. He also served as senior vice president of engineering at ADC Telecommunications and vice president of network operations support systems at AT&T. The school offers an array of degree programs including: Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Business Administration, Master of Science degrees, the Executive Master of Business Administration degree, as well as minors in business subjects and certificate programs. In 2011, the school launched the first online MBA program on Long Island, NY.

Richard Bowes is an American author of science fiction and fantasy. Richard Bowes was born in Boston in 1944. He attended school both in Boston and... on Long Island, New York. In his third year, he took writing courses with Mark Eisenstein at Hofstra University. After graduation, Bowes moved to Manhattan where he has lived for the last thirty-eight years, doing the usual jumble of things that writers do in order to earn a living. He launched his Speculative Fiction writing career in the early 1980s and published novels Warchild, Feral Cell, and Goblin Market. In 1992, Bowes began writing a series of semi-autobiographical stories narrated by Kevin Grierson. These stories were published primarily in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, and later became the novel Minions of the Moon. One story, "Streetcar Dreams," won the World Fantasy Award for Best Novella in 1998. The novel itself won the Lambda Literary Award in 2000. A short fiction collection, Transfigured Night and Other Stories, was published by Time Warner in 2001. It included the original novella, "My Life in Speculative Fiction.

Patricia Reilly Giff was born on April 26, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York. She is an author and teacher. She was educated at Marymount College, where she... was awarded a B.A. degree, and St. John's University, where she earned an M.A. and Hofstra University, where she was awarded a Professional Diploma in Reading and a Doctorate of Humane Letters. After spending some twenty years as a full time teacher, she began writing, specializing in children's literature. Giff now resides in Weston, Connecticut, along with her husband James and their three children. Giff's writing workshops have influenced other children's authors such as Tony Abbott and Elise Broach. Giff's series of children's books about the kids from Polk Street School has proven popular and won critical acclaim . The stories revolve around second-grade teacher Ms. Rooney and the students in her class, in particular perpetual troublemaker Richard Best and Emily Arrow, who is good in math but terrible in reading. Some novels in the series also feature Emily's younger sister Stacy as the central character.
