Home Sweet Homicide is a 1946 American mystery film directed by Lloyd Bacon. The film stars Peggy Ann Garner, Randolph Scott and Lynn Bari and is based on a mystery novel by Craig Rice. The movie features the famous quote: "The Gat had Gittens". Gat, a slang term for a handgun or a machine pistol, is derived from the "Gatling gun"; but can also refer to firearms more generally. A "Gat having Gittens" meant the gun had been shot a few times, the gat producing gittens . Other slang used for a gunin the movie was a "heater", a "rod" and a "piece".
