Homewood is a city in southeastern Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. It is a suburb of Birmingham, located on the other side of Red Mountain due south of the city center. It has one of the highest population densities in Alabama. As of the 2010 census, the population of the city is 25,167. It is located at 33°28′6″N 86°48′29″W / 33.46833°N 86.80806°W / 33.46833; -86.80806 . According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.3 square miles , all of it land.
