The Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature is one of the annual Independent Spirit Awards. The seeds for what would grow to be Film Independent were planted almost 30 years ago when Gregory Nava and a small band of directors, writers, and producers began gathering regularly to share creative ideas and discuss ways to increase resources for independent filmmakers.
