Robert Norton Noyce , nicknamed "the Mayor of Silicon Valley", co-founded Fairchild Semiconductor in 1957 and Intel Corporation in 1968. He is also credited with the invention of the integrated circuit or microchip which fueled the personal computer revolution and gave Silicon Valley its name.... Active all his life, Noyce enjoyed reading Hemingway, flying his own airplane, hang gliding, and scuba diving. Noyce believed that microelectronics would continue to advance in complexity and sophistication well beyond its current state, leading to the question of what use society would make of the technology. In his last interview, Noyce was asked what he would do if he were "emperor" of the United States. He said that he would, among other things, "…make sure we are preparing our next generation to flourish in a high-tech age. And that means education of the lowest and the poorest, as well as at the graduate school level." Noyce was born on December 12, 1927, in Burlington, Iowa. He was the third of four sons of the Rev. Ralph Brewster Noyce.

Craig R. Barrett is an American business executive who served as the chairman of the board of the Intel Corporation until May 2009. He became CEO of... Intel in 1998, a position he held for seven years. After retiring from Intel, Barrett joined the faculty at Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona. Barrett served as the president of Intel starting in 1997 and its chief executive officer from 1998 to 2005. He successfully led the corporation through some of its worst times, including the burst of the dot-com bubble and a severe recession. He was appointed as a member of the Hong Kong Chief Executive's Council of International Advisers in the years of 1998–2005. He joined the board of trustees of the Society for Science & the Public in 2010. In 2010, he also became the co-chair of the Skolkovo innovation center in Russia. Now, he serves as president and chairman of BASIS School Inc., a charter school group. Barrett attended Stanford University from 1957 to 1964, and received a Ph.D. in Materials Science. During his time at Stanford he joined the Kappa Sigma fraternity.

Paul S. Otellini is an American businessman current president and chief executive of Intel. He is also on the board of directors of Google. Paul S.... Otellini born and raised in San Francisco, California, United States, his family is of Italian origin. Graduated from St. Ignatius College Preparatory. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of San Francisco in 1972. He received an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley in 1974. Otellini joined Intel in 1974. From 1998 to 2002, he was executive vice president and general manager of the Intel Architecture Group, responsible for the company's microprocessor and chipset businesses and strategies for desktop, mobile and enterprise computing. From 1996 to 1998, Otellini served as executive vice president of sales and marketing and from 1994 to 1996 as senior vice president and general manager of sales and marketing. Previously, he served as general manager of the Microprocessor Products Group, leading the introduction of the Pentium microprocessor that followed in 1993.
