Fernando León de Aranoa is an award-winning Spanish screenwriter and film director. He achieved acclaimed with his film Mondays in the Sun. Since early childhood Fernando León de Aranoa was drawn to painting and wanted to become an artist. He was good at music and sports and had a... passion for comics that led him to study art. It was while taking classes of Image that his interest for films was awaken. He also studied literature and writing, Joaquín Oristrell was one of his teachers. He began to write short stories winning awards for his narratives. Meanwhile he was working drawing in an advertising agency, but quit his job to pursue a career as screenwriter. With help from his literature and writing teachers he found a job writing scripts for television. He became involved in films for the first time as screenwriter in three undistinguished films dieted by Antonio del Real. León de Aranoa then moved to become a director making a short film Sirenas which received a number awards. His first feature film was “family” which as usual his work also wrote the screenplay.

Isabel Coixet is a Spanish film director. She is one of the most prolific female film directors of contemporary Spain, having directed seven feature-length films since the beginning of her film career in 1988. Her films follow a departure from traditional national cinema of Spain, and help to... “untangle films from their national context, … clearing the path for thinking about national film from different perspectives.” The recurring themes of “emotions, feelings and existential conflict” coupled with her distinct visual style secure the “multifaceted ” filmmaker's status as a “catalan auteur”. Coixet received an M.A. in history from the University of Barcelona in Spain before beginning work on the magazine, Fotogramas, “for which she interviewed a variety of national and international film personalities”. She started her career in advertising, filming commercials before releasing her first feature film in 1988. She has worked as a journalist and as a director for several television advertisements.

Ernst Wilhelm "Wim" Wenders is a German film director, playwright, author, photographer and producer. Since 1996, Wenders has been the president of the European Film Academy in Berlin. Wenders was born in Düsseldorf into a traditional Catholic family. His father, Heinrich Wenders, was a... surgeon. Use of the Dutch name, "Wim", a shortened version of the baptismal name "Wilhelm/Willem", reflected his mother's Dutch provenance, but the Dutch version was rejected by the civil registration authorities in 1945 as "unGerman". He graduated from high school in Oberhausen in the Ruhr area. He then studied medicine and philosophy in Freiburg and Düsseldorf. However, he dropped out of university studies and moved to Paris in October 1966 to become a painter. Wenders failed his entry test at France's national film school IDHEC , and instead became an engraver in the studio of Johnny Friedlander, an American artist, in Montparnasse. During this time, Wenders became fascinated with cinema, and saw up to five movies a day at the local movie theater.
