Dick has more than 35 years of venture capital investment experience. Dick focuses on a broad range of technically oriented companies. He was... fortunate to have been the first person to have invested in the Ethernet with Bob Metcalfe, an early investor in Balloon Angioplasty with John Simpson and also backed the company that originated PowerPoint presentations. Present board memberships include Fabric7 Systems, Financial Engines, Force10 Networks, Foveon, Informative, Visual Edge Technology, Tabula, Nexthop Technologies, Xoom Corporation and Zhone Technologies  . Previous board memberships include among others, 3Com Corporation , Ascend Communications , Dallas Semiconductor , Healtheon/WedMD , Immunex , InfoGear , Juniper Networks , Macromedia acquired by Adobe, NetSolve acquired by Cisco Systems, Decru , Silicon Graphics, and Semiconductor Manufacturing International . He was recently Chairman and President of the National Venture Capital Association. Prior to joining NEA, Dick was a General Partner of Arthur Rock & Associates and Executive Vice President of Gardner & Preston Moss. He received a Masters in Business Administration from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in History from Northwestern University.  He has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Venture Capital Association and the University of California-Haas School of Business.  He and his wife Pam are noted collectors of Media Art.

A seasoned executive with over 30 years of technical and management leadership in the communications infrastructure industry, Dr. Sobti brings a... wealth of expertise in shaping, building, and managing companies. His visionary leadership, complemented by energy and drive, has earned him a well-deserved reputation as an innovator who gets results. Prior to joining IP Unity Glenayre, Dr. Sobti was senior vice president of ADC and president of ADC's Broadband Access and Transport Group . BATG was comprised of the Broadband Communications Division , Broadband Wireless Group , Access Products Division , Cable Access Systems Division , Transport Systems Division , and the Teledata Division. Dr. Sobti's responsibilities included managing operations, engineering, and sales and marketing initiatives. Under his leadership ADC purchased Pairgain Technologies and Broadband Access Systems, their largest acquisitions to date. Dr. Sobti was also at Motorola for 24 years, where he ran a number of their businesses and led Motorola's participation in the third generation of wireless. Dr. Sobti holds eighteen patents and has served on a variety of industry standards committees. He is on several boards and also teaches in the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Kansas, where he earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in electrical engineering. He received his B.S. in engineering from Punjab Engineering College in India.
