Claude François was a French pop singer, songwriter and dancer. He notably wrote and composed Comme d'habitude," the original version of "My... Way" and Parce que je t'aime mon enfant, the original version of "My Boy." Some of his most famous songs are Le lundi au soleil, Magnolias for ever and Alexandrie Alexandra. Claude François sold some 70 million records during his career and was about to embark for the U.S. when he accidentally electrocuted himself in 1978 at age 39. His place in the entertainment world was roughly analogous to Cliff Richard in Great Britain, with a dash of Tom Jones.In France, he is described as the French Elvis Presley. Live, Claude François was also seen as James Brown with a soul bypass. Former French President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing is quoted as saying Claude François was, to him, the equivalent of The Beatles. The son of an Italian mother and a French father, Claude François was born in Egypt, in the city of Ismaïlia, where his father, Aimé François , was working as a shipping traffic controller on the Suez Canal.

Louis Chedid is a French singer-songwriter of Lebanese origin. Louis Chedid is the son of the writer Andrée Chedid and the father of Matthieu... Chedid . As a child he made his first footsteps into the singing world as a member of the "Manécanterie des Petits Chanteurs à la Croix de Bois", a famous French catholic boys choir. Chedid was a fan of the jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and decided that he would set forth into a career in the world of music as soon as he left school. After his first album "Balbutiements" attracted little attention, his talent was first recognised after the release of titles like "La Belle" and "T'as beau pas être beau sortis" in 1977. In 1981, "Ainsi soit-il" rose to the top of the charts, followed four years later by "Anne ma sœur Anne" which criticised the increasing popularity of the extreme-right in France. His first, autobiographical novel – 40 Berges Blues – was published in 1992.
