Charles Jacob Grove is a former American college and professional football player who was a center in the National Football League for seven seasons during the early 2000s. He played college football at Virginia Tech, and was recognized as an All-American. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the second round of the 2004 NFL Draft, and also played for the NFL's Miami Dolphins. Grove was born in Johnson City, Tennessee. He played high school football at Jefferson Forest High School in Forest, Virginia. Grove attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where he played... for the Virginia Tech Hokies football team from 2000 to 2003. As a college senior in 2003, he received unanimous first-team All-American honors, and won the Rimington Trophy, given to the nation's best college center. In recognition of his outstanding college career as a Hokie, Virginia Tech retired his jersey number in 2006. Grove was drafted in the second round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders, where he played from 2004 to 2008.
