Jane Fonda is an American actress, writer, political activist, former fashion model, and fitness guru. Following a successful career as a cover girl, Fonda began her film career as a star, making her debut with the lead role in the romantic comedy Tall Story . Her popularity increased with such films as Cat Ballou and Barbarella , and she won two Academy Awards for her performances in Klute and Coming Home . Her films, which have spanned a wide variety of genres, also include Walk on the Wild Side, Period of Adjustment, Sunday in New York, Barefoot in the Park, They Shoot Horses, Don't... They?, Julia, Fun with Dick and Jane, The China Syndrome, The Electric Horseman, Nine to Five, Agnes of God, The Morning After, and On Golden Pond, which was the only film she made with her father, Henry Fonda. During her more than 50 years as an actress, Fonda has received five additional Oscar nominations and won six Golden Globe Awards, two BAFTA Awards, an Emmy Award, and four People's Choice Awards.
