Jason Chandler Williams is a former American college and professional basketball player who was a point guard in the National Basketball Association for twelve seasons during the late 1990s and 2000s. A native of West Virginia, Williams played college basketball for Marshall University and the University of Florida. He was picked by the Sacramento Kings in the first round of the 1998 NBA Draft, and also played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, and Orlando Magic of the NBA. He won an NBA championship with the Heat in 2006. Williams played for now defunct DuPont High School in Belle,... West Virginia and led his school to state runner-up in 1994 and became the only player in school history to reach 1,000 points and 500 assists. USA Today named Williams the West Virginia Player of the Year in 1994. NFL star Randy Moss was a teammate of Williams. Originally committing to Providence College during high school, Williams changed his college choice to Marshall University after PC coach Rick Barnes left for Clemson. After redshirting his first season, he averaged 13.4 ppg and 6.4 apg in his freshman year at Marshall University.
