Smith, Jr. is a former American football running back in the National Football League for the Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers, and the Dallas Cowboys. He was named to the Pro Bowl two times. He is fifth all time on the 49ers career rushing yardage list, with 4,370 yards. Smith played college football at North Carolina A&T State University and was drafted in the fifteenth round of the 1955 NFL Draft.
