Jefferson is a city in Jackson County, Georgia, United States. The population was 9,432 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Jackson County. Jefferson is known for its superior recreation department. Jefferson Parks and Recreation was recognized as the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association Department of the Year in 2006 and 2011 for the population group 10,000 and under.
