Texas A&M University–Kingsville is an American national university located in Kingsville, Texas. The student body is 62 percent Hispanic and includes students from 35 states and 43 foreign countries. The university has nationally recognized programs in engineering, agriculture, wildlife,... music, and the sciences and developed the nation's first doctoral degree in bilingual education. Texas A&M University–Kingsville is the oldest continuously operating public institution of higher learning in South Texas. The school was chartered as the South Texas Normal School in 1917; however, the opening of the school was delayed due to World War I. Founded in 1925 as South Texas State Teachers College, the university's name changed in 1929 to Texas College of Arts and Industries signaled the broadening of its mission. A 1967 name change to Texas A&I University marked another transition. The university became a member of the Texas A&M University System in 1989 and changed its name to to Texas A&M University–Kingsville in 1993. The school has been continuously accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 1928.

Floresville is a city in Wilson County, Texas, United States. The population was 6,448 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Wilson County. The city is also part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. Floresville was the birthplace of former Texas Governor, United States Secretary... of the Treasury, and Republican presidential contender John Bowden Connally, Jr. , and his seven siblings, including actor Merrill Connally and Wayne Connally , a former member of both houses of the Texas State Legislature. The Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville is named for John, Merrill, and Wayne Connally. Floresville was also the birthplace of Vicente T. Ximenes , a former member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and a civil rights activist. Floresville is located at 29°8′11″N 98°9′28″W / 29.13639°N 98.15778°W / 29.13639; -98.15778 . According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.8 square miles , all of it land. Historic settlers of the area were Native American Indians.
