Sampooran Singh Kalra , known popularly by his pen name Gulzar, is an Indian poet, lyricist and director. He primarily writes in Hindi-Urdu and has... also written in Punjabi and several dialects of Hindi such as Braj Bhasha, Khariboli, Haryanvi and Marwari. Gulzar was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2004 for his contribution to the arts and the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2002. He has won a number of National Film Awards and Filmfare Awards. In 2009, he won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Jai Ho" in the film Slumdog Millionaire . On 31 January 2010, the same song won him a Grammy Award in the category of Grammy Award for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media. Gulzar's poetry is partly published in three compilations: Chand Pukhraaj Ka, Raat Pashminey Ki and Pandrah Paanch Pachattar . His short stories are published in Raavi-paar and Dhuan . As a lyricist, Gulzar is best known for his association with the music directors Rahul Dev Burman, A. R. Rahman and Vishal Bhardwaj.

Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy are an Indian musical trio consisting of Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa. Record producers,... musicians and multi-instrumentalists, they have composed music for over fifty soundtrack across four languages. Among the most critically acclaimed Indian musicians, the trio have won over twenty awards, including one National Film Award, three Filmfare Awards, three IIFA Awards among several other awards and nominations. They are often referred to as "Amar Akbar Anthony" of hindi film music by several, including eminent critic Rajeev Masand. Shankar Mahadevan was born and brought up in Chembur, a suburb of Mumbai, in a Tamil Iyer family from Kerala. He learned Hindustani classical music and Carnatic music in his childhood and started playing the veena at the age of five. He studied under Srinivas Khale, a popular Marathi music composer. After graduating in 1988 with a degree in Computer Science Engineering from Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology in Navi Mumbai under the auspices of Mumbai University, he worked as a software engineer on Oracle Version Six. He is the main vocalist of the trio.

Ehsaan Noorani is the Ehsaan of the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio which consist of Shankar Mahadevan, Loy Mendonsa and himself. He is a famous music... composer and a guitarist. He was the guitarist for many music directors before he started composing music. Ehsaan has also studied music with Mr. Bismarck Rodrigues, an experienced guitar teacher from Mumbai . He has also lent his vocals to Yeh Dil Deewana song in film Pardes along side his partner Shankar Mahadevan. Ehsaan's roots are a testimony to the school of music that he hails from and defines the thought-processes that go on to make-up the phenomenon that Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy are in this part of the globe. He enjoys blues and electronica.
