John Connally

Floresville is a city in Wilson County, Texas, United States. The population was 20,103 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Wilson County. The city is also part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. Floresville was the birthplace of former Texas Governor, United States... Secretary of the Treasury, and Republican presidential contender John Bowden Connally, Jr. , and his seven siblings, including actor Merrill Connally and Wayne Connally , a former member of both houses of the Texas State Legislature. The Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville is named for John, Merrill, and Wayne Connally. Floresville was also the birthplace of Vicente T. Ximenes , a former member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and a civil rights activist. Floresville is located at 29°8′11″N 98°9′28″W / 29.13639°N 98.15778°W / 29.13639; -98.15778 . According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.8 square miles , all of it land. Historic settlers of the area were Native American Indians.

Idanell Brill "Nellie" Connally was the First Lady of Texas from 1963 to 1969. Born in Austin, Texas, she was wife of John Connally, who served as Governor of Texas and later as Secretary of the Treasury. At the time of her death in 2006, she was the last surviving occupant of the presidential... limousine that carried John F. Kennedy when he was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963. In addition to the President, she was predeceased by her husband and by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, as well as by Roy Kellerman and William Greer, the two secret service agents operating the limousine and seated in front of the Connallys. Secret Service agent Clint Hill was not an original passenger in the limousine; however, he boarded the vehicle after shots were fired and remained until the car's arrival at Parkland Hospital, making him the last surviving passenger that rode in the limousine that day. While riding in the car with President Kennedy, she told him, "Mr. President, you can't say Dallas doesn't love you." Almost immediately, she heard the first of what she later concluded were three gunshots in quick succession.
