Sturtevant is a village in Racine County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 6599 at the 2009 census. Sturtevant celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2007. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.1 square miles , all of it land. The Village of Sturtevant is governed by a six-member board and a village president. The village has a full-time police department. As of the census of 2000, there were 5,287 people, 1,477 households, and 1,057 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,717.7 people per square mile . There were 1,521 housing units at an average density of 494.2 per square mile . The racial makeup of the village was 80.25% White, 15.79% African American, 1.15% Native American, 0.40% Asian, 0.21% Pacific Islander, 0.83% from other races, and 1.36% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.73% of the population. There were 1,477 households out of which 36.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.

Sealed Air Corporation is a company that makes a variety of packaging materials, systems and equipment. Its brands include Bubble Wrap, Cryovac, Instapak, Shanklin. They have recently moved headquarters to Elmwood Park, New Jersey. The company was founded in 1960 by inventors Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes who developed AirCap cellular cushioning while they were trying to create textured wallpaper by capturing air between two thin layers of... plastic. The wallpaper idea didn't work out, but they realised that their invention would make protective packing material and their idea evolved into Bubble Wrap. The company acquired Instapak in 1976 , Sentinel 1991 , the Cryovac Division of W. R. Grace and Company in 1998 , and Diversey in 2011.
