Jon Lord

Paice, Ashton and Lord was a British rhythm and blues, funk-soul, rock band founded in 1977, after the break-up of the British band Deep Purple in... 1976. Ian Paice and Jon Lord, Deep Purple's drummer and keyboardist, joined Tony Ashton, a British keyboardist and singer, for this project; the band was completed with Bernie Marsden on guitar and Paul Martinez on bass. Lord had joined Ashton previously to record the album The First Of The Big Bands in 1974. There was a BBC Radio Live in Concert recording of this event that year. Ashton also collaborated on Lord's Gemini Suite project in 1971, in which he sang lead vocals on the first song. He took part in more of Lord's solo works and also in some of Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover's solo projects. One album was recorded by Paice, Ashton & Lord, and also a video in which the band were shown recording their first album in the studio recording sessions. Called "Lifespan", they explained what were the inspirations and meanings of some of the songs. A follow-up was planned but never released. The first album was Malice in Wonderland which was released in 1977.

Whitesnake are an English rock band, founded in 1976 by David Coverdale after his departure from his previous band, Deep Purple. The band's most... popular hit was 1987's Here I Go Again which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in October of that year. The early material has been compared by critics to Deep Purple, but by the mid 1980s they had moved to a more commercial hard rock style. The band's 1987 self-titled album was their most commercially successful, and contained two of their most recognisable songs, "Here I Go Again" and "Is This Love". In 1988, Whitesnake was nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Group. In 2005, Whitesnake was named the 85th greatest hard rock band of all time by VH1. David Coverdale founded Whitesnake in 1976 in North Yorkshire. The core line-up had been working as his backing band The White Snake Band on the White Snake album tour and they retained the title before officially being known as Whitesnake. They toured with Coverdale as his support band and for both of the solo albums he released, White Snake and Northwinds, between exiting Deep Purple and founding Whitesnake.

Deep Purple are an English rock band formed in Hertford in 1968. They are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock,... although some band members claimed that their music cannot be categorised as belonging to any one genre. They were once listed by the Guinness Book of World Records as "the loudest pop group", and have sold over 100 million albums worldwide, including 7.5 million certified units in the US. Deep Purple were ranked #22 on VH1's Greatest Artists of Hard Rock programme. The band has gone through many line-up changes and an eight-year hiatus . The 1968–76 line-ups are commonly labelled Mark I, II, III and IV. Their second and most commercially successful line-up featured Ian Gillan , Roger Glover , Jon Lord , Ian Paice , and Ritchie Blackmore . This line-up was active from 1969 to 1973, and was revived from 1984 to 1989, and again in 1993, before the rift between Blackmore and other members became unbridgeable.

Harvest Records was a progressive rock label of EMI, active from 1969 to 1984. Harvest Records was created by EMI in 1969 to promote progressive rock music and to compete with Philips' Vertigo and Decca's Deram labels, initially under the direction of Malcolm Jones and Norman Smith. Harvest was... distributed in North America by EMI's US arm, Capitol Records. With a launch release by The Edgar Broughton Band, it was home to such classic artists as Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, The Move, Electric Light Orchestra, Barclay James Harvest, Climax Blues Band, Syd Barrett, Kevin Ayers and Little River Band; Harvest also promoted more experimental styles of music. In addition, Harvest was the European licensee for the American label Blue Thumb Records from 1969 to 1971. Harvest Records' focus changed slightly as the 1970s drew to a close, beginning with the signing of post-punk groups Wire, The Saints and The Banned. New Wave artists Thomas Dolby and Duran Duran released their debut albums on the label in North America. Iron Maiden's first three albums were also released in the US by Harvest Records. Pink Floyd switched to Capitol after the release of The Final Cut in 1983.

Purple Records is a record label established in 1971 by Deep Purple's management. Their releases were distributed by EMI. The label was run until 1979. In 1997 Simon Robinson from RPM Records established a second label releasing rare and previously unissued recordings. EMI continues to use the... original logo, Robinson designed a new logo for his label. Deep Purple, Hard Stuff, Rupert Hine, Tony Ashton, The Bumbles, Silverhead, Jon Pertwee, Yvonne Elliman, Carol Hunter, Michael Des Barres, Tucky Buzzard, David Coverdale, Curtiss Maldoon, Gnasher, Elf, Marlon and Jon Lord.
