Joy Cowley

Cassia "Joy" Cowley, DCNZM, OBE is a New Zealand author of novels, short stories, and children's fiction. Her first novel, Nest in a Fallen Tree , was converted into the 1971 film The Night Digger by Roald Dahl. Following its success in the United States, Cowley wrote several works for adults: her novels Man of Straw , Of Men and Angels , The Mandrake Root , and The Growing Season typically focused on families dealing with issues such as marital infidelity, mental illness, and death.
