The Kaohsiung Medical University , originally known as Kaohsiung Medical College, is a private university located in Kaohsiung, Republic of China . Kaohsiung Medical College was established in 1954 by the former mayor of Kaohsiung City, Frank C. Chen, and Dr. Tu Tsung-Ming, the first Ph.D. of Medical Sciences in Taiwan. At the time of its establishment, the college was the first private institution of its kind in southern Taiwan.
