The Georgia Institute of Technology is a public research university in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States. It is a part of the University System of Georgia and has satellite campuses in Savannah, Georgia; Metz, France; Athlone, Ireland; Shanghai, China; and Singapore. The educational... institution was founded in 1885 as the Georgia School of Technology as part of Reconstruction plans to build an industrial economy in the post-Civil War Southern United States. Initially, it offered only a degree in mechanical engineering. By 1901, its curriculum had expanded to include electrical, civil, and chemical engineering. In 1948, the school changed its name to reflect its evolution from a trade school to a larger and more capable technical institute and research university. Today, Georgia Tech is organized into six colleges and contains about 31 departments/units, with a strong emphasis on science and technology. It is well recognized for its degree programs in engineering, computing, management, the sciences, architecture, and liberal arts.

Senoia is a city in Coweta County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,738 at the 2000 census. The 2005 estimate shows 2,719 living within Senoia, making Senoia the second largest city in Coweta County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.7 square miles , of which 4.6 square miles is land and 0.1 square miles is water. There were 662 housing units at an average density of 142.8 per square mile . The racial makeup of the city was 80.03% White, 17.72% African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.35% Asian, 0.52% from other races, and 1.27% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.55% of the population.
