Kent

Memorial Stadium was a stadium in Kent, Ohio, USA on the campus of Kent State University that served as home of the Kent State Golden Flashes... football and track and field teams from 1950 through the 1968 season. Although Kent State had fielded a football team since 1920, Memorial Stadium was the team's first stadium as they had previously played on a field behind Merrill Hall in the old section of campus. The stadium opened on October 14, 1950 with a 57-0 victory over Marietta College and was later expanded in the mid-1950s with additional permanent and auxiliary seating. Rather than demolish the stadium, the university instead dismantled most of Memorial Stadium's bleachers and reconstructed them in a new configuration at the current Dix Stadium site. The main sideline bleachers became the end zone seats at the new stadium while the auxiliary seating formed the east side bleachers. The site of Memorial Stadium today serves as the main visitor parking lot adjacent to the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center and the Kent State student center. Of the pieces of the original stadium, only one still remains in use at Dix Stadium.

The Kent Masonic Temple, also known as the Marvin Kent House and originally as "The Homestead", is a Masonic temple located in Kent, Ohio, USA. It... has served as the home of the Rockton Masonic Lodge #316 since 1923 and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 18 June 1974. Built between 1880 and 1884 in the Italianate style, it was originally the home of Kent namesake Marvin Kent and his family.

Olga Mural Field at Schoonover Stadium is a baseball venue located on the campus of Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, United States. It is home to... the Kent State Golden Flashes baseball team, a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I and the Mid-American Conference East Division. The stadium opened in 2005. It has a capacity of 1,148 and is surfaced with FieldTurf. The stadium is located on the site of the former Kent State baseball field, Gene Michael Field. The stadium was opened on April 1, 2005, with Kent State losing to Ohio 6-2 in front of 476 fans. The field cost an estimated $3,000,000 in construction costs. A $1.53 million donation by Steve Schoonover covered much of the costs. Schoonover made the donation in the name of his parents, Hal and Julia Schoonover, for whom the field is named. In 2006, area philanthropist Olga Mural donated $1,000,000 towards further renovations to the field. The playing field at Schoonover Stadium was named after her in recognition of the contribution. Prior to this, the stadium had been known as simply Schoonover Stadium.

The Charles Kent House, also known as the Palmer House, is a historic structure in Kent, Ohio, USA. It has been listed on the National Register of... Historic Places since February 23, 1978. An example of Gothic Revival architecture, the house also features elements of the Greek Revival and Carpenter Gothic architectural styles. It is at 125 North Pearl Street in central Kent, immediately north of the West Main Street District. It was built in 1843 as the home of Charles Kent, son of Zenas Kent and brother of Marvin Kent, the namesake of the city of Kent. In 1909 it was moved by owner Henry Green 150 feet north of its original location along West Main Street to the site on North Pearl Street. Martin L. Davey, who would later serve as mayor of Kent, followed by U.S. Representative, and eventually as Governor of Ohio, persuaded the owner to move the house to avoid demolition.
