The Washington Redskins are a professional American football team and a member of the East Division of the National Football Conference in the National Football League . Its headquarters and training facility are at Redskin Park in Ashburn, Virginia. Prince George's County and D.C. officials,... however, have been trying to lure the Redskins back to their respective area's for training camp at either RFK Stadium or Bowie State University. The Redskins have played more than 1,000 games since 1932. The Redskins have won five NFL Championships . The franchise has captured 10 NFL divisional titles and six NFL conference championships. The Redskins won the 1937 and 1942 Championship games, as well as Super Bowls XVII, XXII, and XXVI. They also played in, and lost, the 1936, 1940, 1943, and 1945 Championship games, as well as Super Bowls VII and XVIII. They have made 22 postseason appearances, and have an overall postseason record of 23 wins and 17 losses. Only four teams have appeared in more Super Bowls than the Redskins: the Pittsburgh Steelers , Dallas Cowboys , New England Patriots , and Denver Broncos .

Roanoke Rapids is a city in Halifax County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 16,957 at the 2000 census. It is the principal city of the Roanoke Rapids Micropolitan Statistical Area. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.9 square miles , of which, 7.8 square miles of it is land and 0.04 square miles of it is water. The town is located at the beginning of the North Carolina Piedmont, on the Roanoke River at the fall line, which marks the area where an upland region and a coastal plain meet. The fall line is typically prominent where a river crosses it, for there will usually be rapids or waterfalls. Because of these features, river boats typically could not travel any further inland. Because settlements needed a port and a ready supply of water power, they often developed where the river crosses the fall line.
